More Undiluted Platinum PSP Modchip Updates

greg | June 22, 2006

Update: That’s right, even more updates! Below are additional images depicting the Undiluted Platinum box contents - what you’ll receive when you order your own PSP Modchip - and also the promised TA-081 installation diagrams!

PSP Modchip Box Contents

Download Updated Installation Diagrams - includes both TA-079 and TA-081.

Some more updates surrounding the highly anticipated PSP Modchip, Undiluted Platinum (UP), have been released today.

First, a Windows application enabling you to program the UP’s onboard NAND flash memory. And secondly, this was posted over at qj, a no-hassle method to determine whether or not your PSP will be compatible with the Undiluted Platinum PSP Modchip. As you’ll recall UP only works with PCB versions TA-079, TA-080, and TA-081. Grab your PSP and click on the image below to enlarge - if you see “IC1003″ on the area illustrated then your PSP is a TA-082 model, and unfortunately is not compatible with this modchip.

Determine your PSP PCB version

Download Undiluted Platinum PSP Modchip Flash Application

If you’re ready to take the plunge and you’ve confirmed that your PSP is compatible, go ahead and pre-order a PSP Modchip!

Also @ PSPMaster456. You can’t sell modchips on Ebay, and what’s wrong with the price you skinflint. Just think of the work that’s gone in to it! And @ julian it said if there is no writting there it IS compatible. TA-082 is the one NOT compatible. Read it properly or don’t bother trying to put a downer on it for everone else. Just cos you fried a PS2 doesn’t mean everyone else is a noob :P

If you don’t know what a modchip is or what soldering is, forget it!

Comment by dalenkwint
2006-06-22 16:28:53

Soldering is basically setting the wires in place onto a circuit board by melting solder to solidify wires to the board. Personally, I wouldn’t take the risk to do this to my precious PSP myself…

Well, this sounds fine and dandy. My PSP doesn’t have the writing, so it means I can use it. Me, and my Dad both have moderate soldering ability, so I would be able to install it..

But here’s a problem.. the program to program the chip is PC/Windows only. Unless I missed something, there is no Mac version?

(I’m using Mac OS X 10.4, for the record)

They need to reduce their prices else copy chip makers will just get a hold of their chip and make one and sell it for less.

Good for us bad for them.

Ok wats the deal here. According to this article, you either have IC1003 or u have no writing. Well, i have writing, but in my case its IC6001. So does the chip work or not. Now dont give me sum smart ass response because it is a legitimate question that isnt adressed in the above article.

I also have IC6001 to the left of my UMD drive. But i also know for a fact that my motherboard inside is a TA-081 as i have been inside it to double check. So you guy’s should be fine ;)

Comment by RitchDan
2006-06-26 11:36:10

It says if you have IC1003 on right hand then u got TA-082 and not compatible any other writting anywhere else means nothing so for you IC6001 you will hae either TA-79 or TA-81 hope this helps

Comment by me
2006-06-26 14:45:32

WHAHAHA some people will never learn!! Than to think of it that people buy PSP’s to mod them, but instead of buying TA-79 or TA-81 systems they go and ask for the NOT compatible TA-82 systems!!!
What a lauch!!! whaha! But mine is compatible, i havo no writing, but i’m just nog gonna risk blowing my PSP. Much too expensive for that… :D
