Daedalus PSP R5 Released
greg | June 14, 2006
StrmnNrmn has just released Daedalus R5 and it keeps getting better!
The changelog:
- [+] New DynaRec engine, resulting in significant performance improvements
- [+] New front end - ability to toggle a couple of options (more to come)
- [+] Save game first pass (eeprom4k, eeprom16k and mempak)
- [^] Various interpreting engine optimizations
- [~] Use .png file format for background images, save ~380KB
- [~] Stripped out unnecessary code, save ~250KB
Safely assuming you’re all aware of Daedalus and its current state, I’ll provide you with a quick recap: Daedalus is a Nintendo 64 (N64) emulator ported to the PSP with many code alterations to accommodate the PSP’s hardware limitations. Over the last few weeks many improvements have been made to maintain stability and increase performance - keep in mind, Daedalus is still in development; however, it is definitely usable!

1st Post =)
Is it usable yet?
Yes it is! I’m running Mario right now. It’s comning along nicely.
Works for 2.60 right?
Also will any rom work?????
WE NEED SOUND! Great app tho, keep up the good work! SOUND SOUND SOUND SOUND please :P
Of course, get a good frame rate first. I don,t really believe in 30 fps tho.
whack!!!
You go Daedalus1 Keep on going! (you know, mybe you should release a sound version to the public so they can see how much slower it becomes when you enable it). Keep on going, I’m rooting for you.
P.S. 2.6 people, try the 1.0 fw version. It should work.( I wouldn’t know, I have 1.5 )
woot woot!
OMG NOICE WORK GeTTING BETTER EVERYTIME, Sound isnt needed when you know the game by heart and know the sound effects and music for every level. I know im a loser… LOL but im a TRU GAMER!!
KEEP THIS SHYT UP
wats the fps like on this one?
Why can i not save with mario 64!!!!! it says u can sav.
What roms work????????????????
another reason for me to be excited when i got my psp in the mail
Very nice!…been waiting for this update…
but i already relized something…where’s the cool icon and and backround images???…
and i cant get pass most of the intro movies…it freezes and i cant nothing…i know this isnt perfect but with the privious versions i could at least get to the create a save screen…(game is Bomberman Heros…i dont know why i have it either…)
keep up the good work boys
Well the compatibility has improved a little bit, but the FPS rate is still so slow that it makes any game unplayable
WTF?? How come PSdonkey’s version runs faster and gets games to go farther in play? I hope PSdonkey adn strmnnrmn work together on this one!
no mercy doesnt work yet so forget it.
Uh, Moon dude.PSDonkey is fake. It was a fakevideo on the internet. If PSDonkey was there, it’d be downloadable by now. PSDonkey was to make fun of PSMonkey. The creator of the PSdonkey video was trying to say that PSMonkey was an ass to try to get n64 on PSP and that ayone could just make a fake vid.
oh my gawggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
psp monkey is the man i want to be like him!!!!
lets just hope the best game on n64 works…..GOLDENEYE BIACH!!!
umm, okay, who used my name for a immature joke? I just wanted to point out that donkey was fake. these guys work hard. give em some motivation.
Ehh, is it just me or is mario64 is running as fast as previous time? Anyway Goodjob bro !! Keep going with the improvments ! Thnx :)
does it wurk fer 2.71??
Ha me too, 2.71 can run anything threw the demo exploit
2.71 4 ever!!!!
btw dumbass, psdonkey DID release a compiled version of strmnrmn’s code. it was on eithe rthis site or pspupdates a few days ago.
please is there a way to play deadalus on firmware v2.71?????/
so if i download this daedalus will all roms that are made for N64 emulator on pc work for the psp???
if it works on v2.71 how to install then?
yes they will “psp2″ but at un unplayable speed, just copy your normal roms to the rom folder. BTW what frame rate is it at and when will it be at a speed which is playable.
PS you are doing a good job developing this emulator keep it up. thanks
PWWWWNTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
wtf is the frame rate on mario ???????????
Hey listen
PSDonkey is actually a talented coder. Yes he made a fake video…but that is because he is a pretty reasonable person and although you can have high hopes for this application (as I do), the system specifications are just not strong enough…especially with sound. It’s a shame, but it is true. PSDonkey did release a compiled version of this in the psp-hacks forums and it ran very well. He compiled it because nobody else could, proving that he knows what he is doing. He has a tutorial on psp hacks in the programming section of their forum that shows that he knows his coding. Please quit throwing comments blindly about him without a little research.
WTF ^^ the frame for mario is about 8-10, sometimes much higher abnormally
LOL @ 2.71 n00b’s
Excellant Homebrew!!
seeing another release just made my day! :)
how do you put this on the psp? theres way to many files and i don’t have a clue! can someone email me or post this on this site. foolycoolyfan@gmail.com
thanks for any help…
great improvement from the last release…..you about got this emu whiped, needless to say your the only one that’s gotten this close.
Tishero >
No, it doesnt work like that for me. SOUND IS HALF OF THE GAME TO ME. I do remember all the sounds for mario 64 but sound is so important.
Anyone agree give me a hell yeah.
can someone tell me a website to get the n64 games from please
just some helpful advice for ppl who dont think its running very fast… the rendering triangle setting deal in the settings should be on and enable the dynamic thing when laoding a rom, runs alot alot faster
Donkey did compile a Pre R5 version for everyone on this website in the general section. To me, Donkey’s compiled version still works alot better then this R5 offical version. I think its because Donkey improved the code to the Pre R5 build.
another way to get iot going faster can be doen by anyone Just hook up yer psp and go to system tool scandisk and disk defragmenter and select Removible disk.
good advice ryan…
ITS YUST FAR FROM PERFECKT.
BUT EVERY TIME ITS GETTING BETTER.
GOOD WORK DEADLEUS :)
dude, i got my pj64 mario 64 save to work on daedalus by changing the game’s eep. file to daedalus’s sav. file
umm.. my framerate when i play is like 5-8
