PiMP Streamer v0.4

greg | May 4, 2006

PiMP Streamer is a pimped out version of PMP Mod, originally written by jonny. DickyDick1969 knows pimpin’ ain’t easy and with some devoted hard work has released v0.4.

Essentially this homebrew app enables the ability to stream movies to your PSP from any Windows box. PiMP Streamer will try to scale, mux and stream the movie in realtime. Most movie formats should work – if you come across any strange behaviour or wish to leave some constructive criticism, contact DickyDick1969! (I’ll avoid posting his email address here – refer to PiMPStreamer.txt).

What’s new in this version:

  • major stuff rearranged/added, no more thread options in server
  • optimized stream traffic
  • added mp3 support
  • added RSS/VIDEO support (first try)
  • added ini setting: port
  • added ini setting: extensionlist
  • added browse button

Download PiMP Streamer v0.4

Stay on the grind DickyDick!

No 2.6 In MY post I stated that it was 1.5 only. But it looks like greg forgot that.

Besides ISO loaders, this is the next best thing released for PSP. Only prob is that the videos stutter quite a bit. Work in progress I guess.

Works fine with quicktime/avi files, doesn’t work with wmv files…or do I need a codec for that??

go to the config file in the psp folder and write down your ip address instead of his.Took me a while to figure that one out. Stuters on my vids too (probally cause the rest of my family is useing the internet as well.) Other than that, it’s great. I love it. (now I gotta convert all my vids to avi, sigh)

I’m a little lost. I changed the ip address to mine and I still can’t seem to get it to work. It would start to work and then stalls at “connection state 3 of 4.” What am I doing wrong?

no problem with this.
streaming fine.
as long as i sacrifice the video and sound bitrate.. decrease the framerate… it streams fine without lagging.. and still looks good.

==HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING IT TO WORK??==

Give up, your likely to spend far to long tinkering just to get lagging, unsynched, choppy clips that play for less than four seconds and crashes your PSP.

How is this anything more than P.O.C. ?
Maybe this plays files well if you put them on a memory stick but forget the streaming.

Oh yeah, all my support to the devs and those involved, keep plugging at it, you’ll get there. yadda yadda

first off nice try with this app
but the video is so choppy its almost not worth trying to f@$k around with
i have to pause the video with the square button for 4 seconds then i can play 4 seconds of video
so its basicly1:1 for every second you spend paused and buffering you get 1 second of video but it will only buff 4 seconds worth of video at the most
if u cant get this to work try this: open command promt type ipconfig, write down your ip address, then connect your psp to your cpu and go into usb mode, open the pimpstreamer file without the % sign, the ini file is there along with an eboot, open ini in notepad change the number 192.168.1.41:3333; to your ip followed by:3333 in order to asign the port now before riunning this on your psp make sure that u have opened the “windoze” folder and started the pimpstreamer app on your pc and set the directory u wish to stream.
now u can open it on your psp and stream a whopping 4 seconds of video at a time at the best
if any one can get this to stream seamlessly prove me wrong and post how u did it on here

it would be sweet to see the buffer size increased or copy to memory stick before play back or something the choppy-ness of this app is so annoying i cant imagine trtying to watch an entire movie like this

when i change the video bit rate to 256 and the audio bit rate to 32 it works best but still not perfect

to the developer(s):

Excellent job so far, keep up the good wk. Is there a way to buffer the video/audio to the pro duo before starting to play? Perhaps 8 to 10M of memcard buffer before loading the psp memory for playback would help eliminate stutter. I also thought of trying to stream in adhoc mode w/o a network via my wifi laptop and see if that speeds things up. I’ll let you know if it helps.
