Two Registry Hacks v0.92

greg | April 5, 2006

Skylark has released two tools which both [safely] modify the PSP registry – a simplified version of the font hack and an improved button [X and O] swapper. Why re-invent the wheel? Here’s why:

I know that many people had problems with the font hack, and also that the WAB button changer sucks big time by killing all your settings. So I ported the parsedreg3 and fixupdreg3 tools to the PSP and prepared two easy-to-use hacks.

Now accomplishing the font hack has never been easier!

More from the README…

INSTALLATION

To install them for eLoader, just copy all files from this ZIP archive to the Memory Stick. You should have a “PSP/GAME” folder there from eLoader and a new “FONTMOD” folder with a replacement font for the FontHack.

FONTHACK

The first tool, FontHack, causes your PSP to load fonts from the Memory Stick. Before running it, double-check that you have a “FONTMOD” folder on your stick! Otherwise, your PSP will reset to the default setting on the next reboot. You can use the excellent Book Antiqua provided in this package :D Running the hack again will disable it. In other words, it’s a switch.

BUTTONHACK

The second tool, ButtonHack, swaps the functionality of [X] and [O] buttons in XMB; therefore, it does pretty much what the WAB Button Changer can do. It is however better, since no settings should be lost (if everything goes right, of course; if not, then I’m terribly sorry :( ).

Great work Skylark!

This is what I like to see – a release of a finished product.
I liked the idea of the font changer, but until now, it seemed like too much hassle.

Now however, I’m deciding which font I should try!

Good work Skylark old chap!

sorry if this sounds stupid,

but that means that if there is no memory stick or fontmod folder the psp will reset the the font source to flash0, right??

what if i remove the memory stick while the psp is on, and in the XMB?

#13:
U don’t need to reinstall the original settings, just run the EBOOT again, reset the PSP and it’s back to normal, trust me, i’ve been experimenting!

Can the button swapper be used on 2.6 firmware? And does anybody have instructions for a very non technical person to follow?
