Fanjita to retire?

I really hope this is a sick April fool’s joke but Fanjita from fanjita.org (you know, one of the guys responsible for the GTA eBoot Loader) has made an announcement on his website that he is retiring from doing all work with the PSP and moving on to the Gizmondo system.
Below you can read the article dated April 1, 2006 from fanjita.org :
Following recent announcements about movie studios ditching the PSP, and after months and months of battling to bring homebrew to a console whose makers obviously don’t want it, we decided that it’s time to throw in the towel.
Therefore, as of now, there will be no more eLoader releases. Sorry. I know this may seem sudden, but it’s been coming for a long time, our enthusiasm for the PSP has been slowly dwindling over the past couple of months.
The final nail in the coffin was spending the last few weeks trying to break a leaked copy of the v3.0 firmware release. Sony have done a really good job on this one, and we’ve given up hope of being able to crack it. Not even the GTA exploit works – it seems that Sony are really serious about security this time, and it’s depressing. The slog ahead to try to crack what amounts to a total rewrite of the firmware just doesn’t seem worth it. Good luck to anyone who does decide to try.
Fanjita has decided to move to develop for the Gizmondo, a console that has been neglected for homebrew, but where the battle isn’t quite so unrelenting. Work has begun on an eLoader for the Gizmondo, allowing the same rich homebrew platform that PSP owners have grown to love. Some people will ask, “Surely the GP2X would be a better choice?”, but I’ve always said that the GP2X doesn’t offer any sort of a challenge. Sorry guys, but the Gizmondo really needs some loving…
Ditlew has decided to focus his talents on furthering the burgeoning Xbox360 hacking scene.
So long PSP, it’s been nice knowing you.
I would like to assume this is an April Fool’s joke but the level of details in the post are getting me a little worried. If this is true, I would like to thank Fanjita for his contribution to the PSP homebrew world.

I’m not so sure this is a joke…its been several months (5 or 6) since any PSP system update. Sony did a great job squashing most homebrew with 2.5/2.6….with the exception of GTA. I know Sony isnt sitting around doing nothing at all…and I wouldnt let it pass them to rewrite the entire system code…to eliminate potential bugs….but it may also include drivers for the phantom keyboard…and other things planned for the future…ie other devices. Although its very hard to do, its ‘possible’ to create perfect noncrackable software…and Version 3.0 may be pretty darn close to that ideal. Unless you have an old system with 1.5 or downgradable version 2.0…were pretty much doomed.
oh yeah and gizmondo. i sell them at work and as far as i have seen on the gizmondo there is like 2 games and a sat nav system and thats it? whats the point of hacking it it looks like a piece of poop. the psp is much better, ok still few games (other than homebrew) but way better.
