X-Flash V9b

Posted by greg

Art has released a new version of X-Flash for all those still running firmware version 1.50. This homebrew app allows you to easily modify your firmware [i.e.) change boot screen/sound, debrand intro screen, install custom fonts, backgrounds, etc…] so you too can roll out with your own unique PSP showing it off to all the wanksters who aren’t as cool as you.

v9b changes:

  • Improved useability of Background changer.
  • Write verification for all flash operations except when using external files.
  • Functional improvements and enhancements including new screen.
  • Increased analogue joypad dead zone to correct false triggering.

PSPTris v 0.5 Released!

Posted by Josh

PSPTris0.5

Sandberg has released a Tetris game for the PSP. I have tested the game myself (fw 2.6) and I must say this is a fun game. It has great graphics and cool music to go along with it, overall a great homebrew game.

Here’s what Sandberg had to say about it:

PSPTris version 0.5 has been released. This is a stand alone Tetris clone for the PSP. The plan is to have it running as a plugin for PSPRadio. But it will also be released as a stand alone version, for those having 2.x firmware, which can’t use the dynamic version of PSPRadio.

This version has all the basic gameplay in place. It still needs a bit polishing, but I wanted to release this preview to get some feedback.

Instructions from the readme:

Game instructions
—————–
Use START to end the intro sequence.

In the menus, use UP/DOWN for navigating and CROSS for selecting a menu and exiting a submenu. If you press SELECT on the menu it will show you the version of PSPTris.

In the game use LEFT (or LEFT_TRIGGER), RIGHT (or RIGHT_TRIGGER) and DOWN for moving the bricks. UP will drop the current brick. CROSS will rotate the current brick.
START will pause the game.

Thanks for the e-mail Sandberg!

UMD DAX Dumper Beta

Posted by greg

Dark_AleX, author of DAXZISO loader, has released another convenient homebrew app enabling you to create a backup of your UMD in DAX, ISO or GZIP format. You’re left with the option of dumping the UMD directly to the memory stick or to your PC via USB using PspLink.

Features in UMD DAX Dumper beta:

  • Dump to: Selects the destination directory - ms0:/ISO, ms0:/UMD or host0:/ISO [for use with PspLink]
  • Format: DAX, ISO or GZIP [GZIP format is not supported by any loader, you’ll have to decompress the GZIP archive with a compression tool, i.e.) WinRAR]
  • Compression level: select the compression level for DAX or GZIP format. 9 for maximum compression [smaller file], but is of course slower. 1 for minimal compression [resulting in a larger file], and is considerably faster.
  • Split size: create the UMD dump in sized volumes, or select no split if you wish to dump the full UMD to a single file.

There are a few things to note so you should check out the README.TXT for further details.

PSAR Dumper Version 2B (.02B)

Posted by greg

New version of the PSAR Dumper surfaced today from PspPet - this one includes the ability to extract the 2.70 firmware files from the EBOOT.PBP update file; however, the PRX files are not decrypted, yet…

A tool to help legal reverse engineering of the PSP system components. Extracts the contents of the update data file, and saves them as separate files on memory stick. When it can, it will also automatically decrypt the .PRX files (like the PSPSDK PRXDecrypter tool)

Advanced expert tool.

Refer to the readme.txt for the rest…

And you can download the 2.70 EBOOT’s here if you wish to extract the files yourself. You will of course require a PSP capable of running homebrew - 1.00 through 2.60.

UMD Net Ripper v1.0a

Posted by greg

I just realized apv has made a minor fix to the previous UMD Net Ripper release a few days back. No code changes have been made; however, a minor permission error which prevented you from executing the supplied ‘nc.exe’ and ‘unfold.exe’ has been corrected - those users who experienced problems should no longer!

And on a side note, I also noticed avp requesting some feedback on this ingenious homebrew application…
