Dark_AleX has released a new version of the popular DAX ZISO loader - now sitting comfortably at version 0.4.
DAX enables you to shrink existing ISO images (that you’ve created from a backup!) using a custom compression format - resulting with more space available on your memory stick!
v0.4 changes:
- Added 4 new emulation modes:
- System Menu - MPHGL
- MPHGL - VSH Exec
- DirectLoad - LoadExec
- MPHGL - LoadExec.
- Added the option “Allocate tables in RAM”. When in off, compatibility will be greater than in previous versions.
- Copy Load now uses the function “sceKernelLoadExec”, as UMDEMULATOR does.
- The program now uses a different configuration file than UMDEMULATOR, avoiding in this way that UMDEMULATOR resets it to 72 bytes.
- Removed the limitation that caused that if before the compression the iso had more than about 1365 MB, DAXZISO didn’t allocate the memory for the tables.

By the way, this only works on 1.50 and you require a UMD to be present in the drive - for more info, click below…

And this will not work on 2.00, 2.01, 2.50 or 2.60.
ISO LOADING NEEDS KERNEL MODE.
you guys are stupid, the only way you can run a backed-up iso is if you have low level security access. that level of security is only availible on 1.0 and 1.5 psp-ees.

Thanks a lot dude! You saved me $35 on the game Daxter! However, sleep mode doesn’t work and the cutscenes are messed up. But still, awesome game, and thanks a ton!

GTA takes 547mg on a 1gb card and it works until going out on the streets and it froses. Does anyone know how to fix this problem????

No it DOSENT work on anything above 1.5, and the yes / no for the RAN thing does this: When its on your dax iso’s run faster, but there are some games that will freez when its enabled. That happened on my LCS ISO. Turn it off and most iso’s should work - exept some of the ‘new release’ titles.
Pity there are alot of morons and idiots on this site…..

BTW Nice job, dark_alex, i can fit MGA2 RIP (300+ MB before) + GTA RIP (500+ MB before) + some japanese game (100+ MB before) + EXIT (100+ MB before) and still have 200+ MB left in my 1 GB (actually 900 MB) memory stick XD
Heres a sensible idea how about we get a list going of all the iso’s that actually work on this propely. Ie that actually also let u save game progress.
how about a loader that works for 2.5 and up games. i’ll still with MPH. 2 gig sticks are cheap on ebay.

im having a problem. everytime i go to load an iso it just loads the umd that i have in the psp. Is there an option or something you have to enable in order to play the iso that you’ve compressed using the compressor?
#27 that is a common issue.GTA freezes for me too.Dont use dax for gta. Hopefully in the next realease alex will fix that.:)

I dont see why an ISO loader wouldnt work on 2.00+,File asst .04 was pretty convincing to me that almost anything can be run,IR Commander is another example,and I might be mistaken but doesent the font mod work on 2.60???That writes to the flash…and if you can write to flash wheres the softmod patch for Sony firmware signatures,kinda like the XBOX softmod with evox….ya KNOW????We all know it can be done Fajita just coded HIS progs to NOT acsses kernal on purpose,and still why has no one figured out why a sony signed update will boot from the memstick but homebrew does not,what did sony change to make this happen…anyways LETS GET SOME PATCHED FIRMWARE IN HERE ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gta is UGLY on FW 1.5 using the DAX loader… very choppy and crashes.
Tested and works with:
Daxter_ 420mb - 300mb
World Rally Champ_ 600mb - 300
THUG2R_ 600mb - 300mb
SSX 320mb_ - 240mb
NFS Most Wanted_ 180mb - 150mb
all using compression rate #9
we need a newer mph loader… come on MPH!!!
ok again this will not work on 2.6 THE ISO LOADERS NEED KERNEL MODE 2.0+ FIRMWARES DO NOT HAVE IT STOP ASKING FOR ONE ok as for gta its does work with dax loader and pretty damn fine if ya ask me i have no problems what so ever with it again it does not work on 2.0,2.5,2.6 the dont have kernel mode maybe someday some one will make thos firmware accese kernel mode but not in the near future
