pMEnc v0.2 Released!

greg | March 20, 2006

As promised, modsyn has released pMEnc v0.2 – now with DVD ripping support!

Also new to v0.2:

  • DVD Ripping now works with subtitle/audio track selection.
  • Video quality can be controlled with Qscale (or quality scale) rather OR bitrate. Remember, for qscale, the lower the number the better the quality.
  • Batch encoding. Set up your job and hit the ‘Save’ button. Then you can set up as many more jobs as you want. (Doesn’t work with DVDs)

And if ya don’t know…

pMEnc is a program for creating PMP files compatible with PMPMod for PSP. Due to the release of PSPlayerMT, this version allows you to create fullscreen AVI files. The goal is to simplify and speed up the process of creating a PMP/AVI file while keeping good quality.

…ya do now.

Download pMEnc v0.2

The resulting video file can be played back using:
PSPlayerMT (AVI) / PMP Mod (PMP)

Thanks modsyn!

Two words for converting DVDs to AVIs: Gordian Knot. Theres zero point using this if you’re creating AVIs.

Hey, #16, I think there is an option in setup that asks if you want it to pop up every time you run the program.

This produces perfect video and sound at the PSPs natural resolution, but the volume is too low. Is there a setting to increase it? Even if not, this is a wonderful program.

for all of those wanting the option to increase the volume i
have added that. to get the additional feature, download the volume update pack from
http://cs.ulm.edu/~jself/pmenc/pMEnc-volume-addition.rar

to install, replace the folder ‘pMEnc’ with the one in the rar file.
make sure you replace the correct folder, since there could be 2
folders named pMEnc. the one you want is the one with the .class
files in it. also,
the volume increase goes all the way up to 100, but i would say that
a sane volume level is below 15.

anyway, thanks for all the feedback. let me know what else i can do
to improve the program.

Looking forward very much to using this volume addition, but the link doesn’t work. Cut and paste didn’t work either. I’ll keep checking.

Dearest Modsyn, I’m having a problem with both versions of your phenomenal tool. It starts, looks like its working, but buttons SOURCE FILE and OUTPUT FILE are light gray and innactive – do I do something wrong? Please help. Thank you.
