I think the ps1 emulator will be cool cuz there are a ton of ps1 games i never played. Im sure somebody will find a way to put ones u already own or have in data form on the psp without playing. Things r looking up for psp i was worried a couple months ago.

Ummmm…guys this is an update..3. I don’t know what kind of stuff is up there but you need to update your PSP when the new Update comes out this spring, it also will have Flash media which means when you search the web the pictures move. That’s just for all you people that don’t know what flash is. And to all the people that gonna stick to Homebrew after hearing this news. Something aint working up there Sony is making offical Homebrew which will be better then bricking your PSP. And the PSP will also have this Oct an eyetoy so you can talk to people and see them at the same time. for sure it will need a firmware update. the good thing is that they are gonna make the emulator for us and make it as smooth as possible. they know the system better than anyone. its the hackers community thats responsible for hopefully finding a work around. but its definitely a step forward in getting psone games on there.

i read this sum time ago. an normal psx emu willl b 2 slow, i think it converts the psx games 2 roms that will run :)

i think that nmber 1 it will NOT be an tru emulation because it wouls be to easy to port your own games to the mem stick and fool the system to think that it was a ps1 game i think itll be like a disk not a tru emulation but who no’s only more info can truly tell. But if it is a disk itll B a much cheaper then tru psp games but it if is a tru Emu itll B free hoplfully they’ll give us a taste in the Firmware

PS1 games run on the Emulator and PS2 games are being ported as well top the PSP. Firmware update required? You bet.. but heck for 199.00 I’ll just buy another.

Buy 1.5FW PSP for HomeBrew and another one with 2.01+FW for the PSX emulator and the new releases so you can enjoy the PSP to the limit , it’s already cheap now, a secand hand PSP is less than $100 on Ebay with a new one at $200.

If Sony can run games and emus from the memory stick then our beloved PSP homebrew developers and coders can fix that to run the full library just like the case of Genesis Emulator released by Sega for the Dreamcast, and soon to run ISOs from the latest firmware. now those people with 2.01+ keep the faith its only a matter of time, i know how you suffer with one or two games even if it was GTA:LCS ;)

Don’t worry about the r2 and l2 buttons, the emulator will take care of that, i figure that they’ll make one of them a shift key. I hope they give us a big selection of games to choose from. I would love ff7, and think rpg maker would be awesome too.

One thing to note here is that the Psone is more powerful then the N64. If Sony want’s to create a PSone emulator for the Psp, they wouldn’t release something slow or cruddy. They would want somthing that’s going to make them money. So a N64 emulator at full speed is probably possible, but at a price.

Hey #41, I did pay for my UMD’s, but I did not pay for any of my ROMS. It’s a fast paced world, and you have to realize that anything you make in the software industry is going to be worthless two years after it is released. Sorry to break it to ya, but that’s how it is in any game industry, not just the PSP community.

Me im a homebrew/2.6 user so yeah I love what hackers do. And for you people that downgrade if they do even make a downgrade for the new update and 2.6 you better believe that thing is gonna brick faster then me running to my corner store. Someone said much earlier that “A PSX emulator would be the death of the PSP”. I can’t agree more. Sony also sees this, and I believe they are trying to meet the demand for such an emulator, to hopefully keep hackers from making an emulator that can run games for free. We’ll see how it works out. I wouldn’t be suprised if their new emu was somehow hacked and they end up back at square one. I still hope for a working PSX emulator so I can play my already-owned copy of FFVII!

This has nothing to do with piracy!! PS1 games are pretty muched owned by sony this is just like the ps2 being backward playable. Sony is wanting to make the money on selling more systems it is losing the battle in Japan and with the Xbox 360 already out and the word that PS3 will be between $500 and $900 they have to make the money somewhere cause right now they are losing big time!

I Guess the PSP’s operating system is the same as for PS2 and PS1 , the same case goes for PS3, the only diffrence is in the operating system’s handling of the hardware, which means that the PSP is in fact a backward compatible with the PSone Hardware and only the right instructions(emulation) need to be fed to the system.
PSP homebrew developers if given some time, little attention to the emulator and of course the right SDK and some high pay salary ;) can emulate it in far shorter time.
Take Steve for example the developer behind PSPSone emulator, the guy is busy with his daily life Plus the 3 Kids , the guy cannot afford to buy a 1G mem stick for his PSP!! but guess what he’s done a great job so far and here is a clip of his nice interview :

The main reason Sony’s given away a PSone Emulator is there Greedy look at the Success of the Nintemdo DS and its backward compatibility with the GameBoy Advance huge Library.

the majority of the PSP owners are adults , if i wanted to buy a gift for my little Kids or nephews i wouldn’t buy them a very fragile system like a PSP!!
a very solid system with Mario Games is more than enough.

Your UMD’s are very #$%^@ expensive. A psOne emulator is a brilliant Idea. Do we have to pay for titles we bought a long time ago already or will you let us download these titles as a gift for being patient with ur jabroni asses. For the record I am a 2.6 User and I really need an update on my PSP to 3.0 because quite honestly JIM I’m tired of looking at the same old icons on my menu. Release the eye candy for PSP already wtf is taking you guys so long. Isn’t sony supposed to be like the best gaming mongul company ever ? You know what makes microsoft so great. They know we will pirate and Hack and Make homebrew stuff and they allow it at our own discretion. If sony allowed users to make something great of what they have already created they would make a whole lot more money. Also make a USB hub on the PSP would be a very smart idea for you sony. U know what Sony is going to do, its almost Certain that the games you put on the Memory Stick (PS1) will be Encrypted the same as everything else is on PSP,
that way the Emulator Decrypts the Game before Running it, which means Sony will let us play Demo’s of the Games for free, but Full games for a Price…………makes Perfect Sense!!!!!

BTW…..We will have too upgrade our Firmware to whatever it is called when this emulator comes out!!!!

Doesn’t really make sense for Sony to offer downloadable PS1 games, because people will just steal them that much easier. Also, some games, Final Fantasy especially, won’t fit unless you have like a 4 GB stick. Nobody will do that. Makes so much more sense to port games like FFVII to UMD. Also, since the PSP is widescreen, won’t PS1 games suck a lot of ass?
