pMEnc v0.1 – a Simple PMP Creator

greg | March 13, 2006

modsyn has just released another handy Windows utility entitled pMEnc [a PMP encoder]. pMEnc is aimed towards those who wish to create high quality PMP videos with ease, and I must say – it is extremely easy!

The resulting PMP is 100% compatible with PMP Mod, and can be played back in full resolution on your PSP.

pMEnc v0.1

How to use (from the included readme.txt):

  1. Extract the contents of the pMEnc.rar file to the directory (or folder, if you must) of your choice on your computer.
  2. Double-click the file ‘pMEnc.exe’ in the install directory.
  3. If this is the first time using pMEnc, you should first run the setup option.
  4. Click the input file to select your input source. pMEnc will ask you for the title. That is the name of the output file it will create. By default the output file is created in the same directory as the input file. If you would like to change this, you can click the ‘Output File’ button to choose a new directory.
  5. When you’re ready, just hit the ‘Start’ button and wait for your PMP to be created.
  6. Enjoy :)

Unfortunately at the current moment pMEnc v0.1 does not support DVD encoding, though it’s soon to come with a future release, and loading external sound files has yet to be implemented.

Otherwise, try this out! Leave your comments/feedback below.

Props to modsyn for another great release.

I have a program that removes all the region coding and also all encription on the DVD discs. I have not testing my program with this one but ican make backup copies with it.
Program Called ANYDVD made by SLYSOFT.COM is the one to remove region coding and encription. CLONEDVD2 to make your own backup of DVDs inc menus and stuff also by SLYSOFT.COM

well, If PMP mod is a program compatible with 2.0/2.5, then yes it works…. read the description.

I think PMP mod is only for 1.5/1.0, but I don’t know

Slow, slow, slow! Tried this out last night with a 400MB (1 hr) WMV file. Started the process at 10 PM, and at 7 AM the next morning, it still wasnt done processing! A great attempt, however, until someone develops a better PMP encoder, I’m sticking with MP4 converts. Unfortunately, it ends up horribly desyncing the sound on WMV when playing in FW 1.5.

the problem lies with WMV! windows media is a horrific video format. try it out on mpg, avi, mkv, or ogm and see how it performs. also, if you MUST use wmv in the future, you could download the MPlayer codec package from http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/windows-all-20050412.zip

I love modsyn’s programs. I’ve been using jmenc for quite a while and it is great. I think it would be good if this program gets integrated into jmenc.
