psphacks.net and 71M, together with RK Digital.net, Heavy.com and Newgrounds.com, have released the first flash player for the PSP - SWFPlayer v1.1.
SWFPlayer v1.1 only runs on firmware version 1.50 and supports most action script through version 7.
There are a few known issues
- flash files which use MP3 sound. PCM sound is fully supported.
- loading times are being worked on
Otherwise it runs quite smooth! The source code is expected to be released later on once things are cleaned up a bit.

Well done, i always wanted sony to release flash player in firmware, as i stupidly upgraded to 2.6 when i panic’d as my psp would play games and kept crashing lol. Anyway, well done :)

well if the firmware 3.o stuff is true this will be made redundant when people upgrade to 3.0 but as we have all those sopposed 3.0 stuff in firmware when this custom firmware comes in we can build a firmware with it all in and homebrew and sony will be back to the drawning board again, kicking them self’s in the shins with stupidity

OMG this is great , does it work on 2.6? , just kidding but I know how with more than 99% of the flash games and movies in newgrounds how to downloaded as swf programs to yourcomputer , the process takes like 5 minutes so anyone that needs help add wfuentes@msn.com to your messenger.

HOLY CRAP this thing takes FOR EVER to load up a 700kb animation….like, my PSP actually went into SLEEP MODE before it was done loading up. I’m totally serious. Just because Strongbad Emails are on a 486 doesn’t mean you have to simulate how slow they actually load!!!

ha, n64 on a 2.6, that’s extremely funny. They’re having trouble with 1.5 n64 emu, still waiting for it too, but highly doubt it’s gonna work for 2.6
You can download programs such as the “Sothink SWF decompiler”, wich can let you download and save the .swf of the flash files onto your computer. This plugin is neat because it adds on to the tool bar of I.E and is very easy to find what you want on the page and to download it. I recommend it for use of getting files to play.

#32 and for anyone else interested. sometimes you can find the link to a “.swf” file in the html source for a page.
Or
just google/download a free tool called “flashmovie extract pilot” and it’ll grab swf files from your cache and you can save them where ever you like.
whether or not the file is compatable with this version of flashplayer is up to what the program decides to load but w/e progress is progress!

You know guys, you can download .SWF files with FireFox you know. FireFox the internet Browser to be more clearer. Go the site that has the game in the window. Then go to Tools, then Page Info, and then, Click the MEDIA Tab, then find your SWF or FLASH type file and click save as. Then DONE! This is the easiest way to “Grab” Files from webpages/sites. LONG LIVE FIREFOX!

Too bad it’s really slow, gonna try a homebrew cpu 333 loader. Gonna try somemore stuff, but gonna wait on an update that makes it faster
im wondering what if a persons PSP breaks down maybe cause of oldness or something then if they repair it or replace it it would be a high firmware then no more homebrew. unless if Sony supports homebrew or adds cool stuff like this then every1 is happy.i think
#47, I broke my psp and did research on repairs. Outside repair companies (such as fixmyplaystion.com) will not update the firmware (asked them from tech support) If you repair by sony they will surly update the psps firmware, but that’s totally out of this subject. And Nevermind about the homebrew overclock thing I talked about, no such thing. I’d be good though, but it does take forever to get this thing loaded.
you know, you’d think how they said “loading times are being worked on”, that it would be at least bearable, but this thing is slower loader flash than my crappy packardbell comp with win95 and a pent1 with 16mb of ram (good ole days). Man they really need to overclock this thing

As for the slow loading, there is an update now i think, that speeds it up. Pikoro replaced the file.

Ok, I’m having some issues getting the new build compiled. The loading times are mostly fixed, and some mouse issues resolved. Once I get home I’ll see if I can’t crank out another release.

This is a great idea for PSP, and I really think that the people responsible are super cool, but, honestly, this release is really awful. It’s BARELY functional and has serious bugs/compatability issues with just about everything I ran on it. Consider it more of a TECH DEMO than a FLASH PLAYER. (Till they release version 2.0)

Now We know is possible to hack the psp with Flash firmware…. so waiting for the release of firmware 3.0 which will include sony’s version of a flash player i think it will be on the month of may or march im not sure. but it will be release on one of those month’s.

I ahte sonys cheep ways i’ve asked them several times to buy flash, WMP Play back codes to enhance the users needs and to boost sells but there being hores as always and not allowing you to view flashfiles altue http://www.Mrsnake.com you can see the flash logo for some reason on a psp …. please make a 2.6 soon

erm i tried loading a .swf and got abunch of error messages and then a few seconds later my PSP went off. Erm what did i do wrong this time?

Excellent start to a great program! Much respect to the dev team. Heres a good question. Did anyone notice that you can actually view the ‘read only’ sections of Flash 1 & 2 on the PSP? Plus, apparently it also shows USB enabled/disabled when connected to a PC. File Copy/USB OTG anyone?

I know how to make more than 99% of the flashes in newgrounds to .swf files , still i’ts a long process ( takes about 5 to 10 minutes for each flash ) but it’s good if you want to have the top 50 flashes on newgrounds on your psp , if you want help add me to your contact on messenger wfuentes@msn.com and I will help you , too this process I think it works with even flashes that are not from newgrounds but haven’t tried on flashes not from newgrounds so don’t know. Of course if you ask help there are conditions
a. don’t post them on any site like ebaumsworld.com cause it’s illegal.
b. Don’t sell the flash file or trade it cause it’s illegal too
c. do not share the files cause it’s illegal too.
