This is a bit off-topic, although the schematics for the serial interface was designed with the PSP in mind. And also, this hack is made by Niacin – the one (toc2rta) responsible for discovering the TIFF overflow in firmware version 2.0 – allowing us all to take advantage of homebrew.
So anyway, MsnTv 2(also known as WebTV) was never an interesting gadget for Linux users. Limited in functionality and also working only with a paid subscription – no wonder merely a few geeks got interested in it. As it turns out, however, with a dint of hacking effort it can be converted into a Linux-based server – no complex hardware modifications are really required. As they can be picked up on eBay for $0.99 + shipping, it’s a rather wonderful bargain. And they cluster nicely on a shelf!
