PSP XBMC Remote Music Interface

Posted by greg

This was released earlier today, by jonny2002, over in the qj forums. It’s probably one of the coolest applications to hit the PSP homebrew scene in awhile, in my opinion anyway.

XBMC Remote Music Interface for the PSP allows you to control the music playback functionality from Xbox Media Center. You’ll of course require an Xbox with a XBMC release from 2006. Grab the latest XBMC build.

Control XBMC via your PSP wirelessly!

Installation is simple:

  1. Copy both folders (XBMCrmi and XBMCrmi%) to the ‘/PSP/GAME’ directory on your memory stick.
  2. Open the settings.ini file and edit the network settings.

Controls:

  • D-pad: navigate
  • Cross: select
  • Circle: back
  • Square: stop
  • Triangle: pause on/off

A few side notes: this has only been tested on 1.50. And if you use domain in a share, that share will not work. Quick fix: remove the domain part.

Check out the readme.txt (included with the download below) for further information.

It’s distressing when a really cool homebrew is released that gets me all giddy only to find that when I put it on my PSP v2.60 it won’t run. IRCommander atleast loads, but the remote function isn’t detected by my xbox. I hate to complain since I haven’t the slightest ida on how to make a homebrew, much less contribute to hacking the 2.60 firmware. :(
    …Someday.

I’ve been waiting for an app like this ever since I saw you could connect to xbmc from within Wipeout Pure. Excellent work. This is MUCH more robust then the old browser method!

I’m having trouble connecting to my xbox through this program…it says “Timeout” the xbox’ ip is 192.168.0.3 and the xbox ftp server’s port is 21…am I supposed to use these in the settings.ini? the password field in the ini-file is blank, but it did’nt help if i wrote “xbox” as the password =) help needed

hi guys, what does it mean when they say ‘You’ll of course require an Xbox with a XBMC release from 2006.’ and why? Cheers!

It’s times like this that make me realize that I will always be a noob. #11 Is asking about things that I would never have thought of. Things I’m sure are common to you experts.
I am not worthwhile. Guess I’d better hit up the archives for tutorials and what-not.

    HACK THE PLANET!!!

(… nothing? not even a chuckle? just tryin’ it on.)

024: just hook up your psp to your wireless router, either with dhcp or manual ip. then set a manual ip on your xbox and hook it up with cable to the same router.
don’t forget to set the ip of the xbox in the settings file for the psp application! =)

    hope it helps!
