Hey guys PSmonkey here. I feel the need to clear a few things up here.

Some of you guys have not a clue as to what emulation involves or programming in general. You can't say that just because a emulator writen for x86/PCs runs like crap on the psp means the psp can't handle another system. It's just f***ing retarded.

Another thing is, I did not just randomly jump up one day and say I am going to port a n64 emulator to psp. I've had numerious discussions with lac (of dextrose & n64 scene) about this and he finds it well with in reach. Lac IMO knows more about the n64 hardware then any of you.

Now on to the emulator it self. Both PSP & N64 are Mips processors with very simular instruction sets. On top of it the PSP has an extreamly powerful VFPU. This will come into play heavly in the future since I can recompile the CPU & Cop0 instructions for the psp cpu & I can recompile the COP1 (which handled floating point) instructions to the VFPU (which has its own register set).

Another thing to take into consideration is that Nincest 64 is a poorly writen emulator. There are numerious bugs left and right. As a result I have already started rewriting the entire emulator and using PJ64 as a guideline (Pj64 is one of the more accurate emus out there).

Sure the early builds will be ungodly slow (1-5fps) but alot of that will be from me trying to get a solid interpreter down first before trying to recompile the instructions.

Regarding my credentials, I am a comercial handheld game developer with almost 4 years of industry experience. I've also been apart of the psp homebrew scene since the beginning. So nay sayers can bite me.

i have a amd 32oo and a geforce 256 video card and ill tell you that made the difference with project 64 1.6 and the right plug-ins its amazing...it emulates anything at full speed the pj64, epsxe. so if you have a good card it makes a difference but more important is the processor id guess i mean if you consider what psmonkey had to work with and all he has done already with a 333 processor its crazy it loads the n64 logo from wave race and the stars and fire roms already now stars and fire are demos but they are in "n64" format and are about 2071 mb mario 54 is like 8192 thats a quater of the way right so mad props to the monkey man he only does this as a secondary project below his main project a gr8 first person shooter the best homebrew game out there next to smash bros gp and think about this the smallest commercial rom i know of is battle tanks if i were a monkey id try that first its like 5000 some mb twice the size of stars and fire perfect goal id say right but im happy that it exist he says his goal is actually higher to get mario 64 running as his first commercial ap now here is just a guess as to WHY MARIO 64 WAVE RACE SAN FRAN RUSH WHAT DO THESE HAVE IN COMMON LIKE MARIO THEY ARE ALL 8192 MB IN SIZE CURIOUS HUH AND MAYBE NOT SUCH A ACCEDENT..then thats just speculation from the average vetta lol...

The PSP hase a pair of 4300 based cpu's (As did the N64), once you've endian swapped the N64 code, hooked GPU display list generation into the dex1/2 DRAM layout - then we are on... We dont need to emulate the RCP too much - look at UltraHLE for the PC! It ran sweet on a 3dfx card / 266 P3 combo. If you knew anything about PSP & N64 you could see that this can work.(Be positive & know something about the two platforms before cussing.) Good-luck PSMonkey!
