Massa84 has released one hell of a handy homebrew application for 1.50 users. Now you’re able to control thousands of electronic infra-red devices with the PSP Universal Remote.
PSP Universal Remote supports all devices currently listed at www.lirc.org.
Installation:
Simply extract the RAR archive (obtain a copy of Winrar at www.rarlabs.com) to the root of your memory stick, maintaining the directory structure/paths.
Usage:
- Press ‘Square’ to list remotes
- Press ‘X’ to select manufacturer
- Press ‘X’ to select remote
(the app will restart) - Press ‘O’ to see the command list
- Press ‘X’ to select the command
Use ‘Triangle’ to exit - pressing ‘Home’ will cause your PSP to crash.

Please note I’ve only tested this homebrew app on 1.50 - later versions may/may not work, leave your feedback below.

well it works on my 1.5 but it only turns my tv to chnl 0 its a bush tv it can’t do any thing eles bit of a bummer

I have the same question as #10. I’ts putting it on my psp right now but i wasn’t sure if the folder remotes goes in the root or where. I just put it in the root. I’ll let ya know if it works.
It The remotes folder goes in the root dir.

um..whenever i try to get it working, it just says “goodbye” and shuts down…tf
Works great. Hopefully on next version u can add a page down feature to select remote brand cause scrolling takes forever. Also, the ability to switch to a different remote once one has already been selected would be nice as well.

yeah i saw this on pspupdates, but their download website is SO fucked, so i came here. this is pretty cool, for a first release, i mean, i can’t even switch remote files within one brand! that kinda sux. and yeah, the only other IR remote was for ps2/sony wega tv’s. it sucked, unless you wanna fuck with your ps2 playing friends.
one quik question. How do I figure out which one i use they have all those b31-135 stuff like that so how do i find it and i havea sanyo tv.

Dude, this is awesome! I have long since broken the remote on my Sanyo TV, and the subtitles were stuck on, because it had a seperate CC button on the remote instead of it being in the main menu. But now with this great app from Massa84, the subtitles on my TV are no more

I cant install it on my psp, I put the RAR folder at the root of my MS and then I extract. this takes about 6 minutes then it cost me about 70 mb, and when i go to the game folder i can’t see an icon, because the folders aren’t at the right place. Please help I’m noob in this. Thanks(i have 1.50 fw)
this prog is what ive been waitin for…its great that someone decided to make use of the IR….i needed a universal remote for a long time…but to cheap to buy one….it works on my cable box and my vcr…too bad it doesn’t work for my tv…cuz that what i need most…but universal remotes never work for my tv…so its nothing new to me….this prog rocks….keep up the good work…maybe a update that will work for my tv???

they need to make a downgrader for 2.6 so i can use this >_
go download the update to 2.71 from this site then download the downgrader 2.71 i did that!!!!

nice little program the only problems i have with it is i dont know how to figure out what .txt might be the one i need so i have to ether find a way to figure that out or test them but some have a lot of .txt files and it takes a long time to get back to test another….
any help comments about how to find what .txt i need would be appreciated

any luck on the old direct tv boxes, i cant get mine to work i even downloaded some extra ones for kicks……. but my tv works fine.
mines not workin =/ i have a toshiba tv. when i use the toshiba remotes it only lets me set it to one and no other ones.
i wish it could record but im no tht eone writting it.
it does run nicely, ill just anticipate the next release, if its not out in 2 weeks then ill be mad.

Its still a bit buggy, for some reason certain brands will open and choose the model automatically. a pretty sweet app though, i am looking forward to it being updated and, because it is a great idea.
can u connect to ur laptop infared port using this?
holy shit yo this works on my xbox 360 i was able to put a dvd in mt 360 and use the psp to control it while the movie was playing.. very sick good job guys keep up the good work

This is so cool i love it and it works great on COMACAST boxe’s (digital cable) the best homebrew ever
i got it workin on ps2
poeple are stupid there complaining how they have 2.0. reallyu kids how long has the downgrader been out for like about a 5 months now come on. the only reason u should upgrade to 2.0 is to play socom online becuase flashmod 2.0 doesnt work with it once ur done with that just downgrade with mph downgrader derr. so 2.0+ loser quite ur bitching

Great App. Makes good use of the ir. I noticed some people need a little help.
Installation:
1. Extract the contents of the .rar onto your desktop or wherever
2. Place the 2 “UR…-” files from the extracted .rar, into the games folder under the the psp folder on your psp
3. Place the “remotes” folder from the rar onto the root directory of your psp.
Done!!
There might be some more shifting of the config files in the “remotes” folder, so ill post here if anything new comes up for me.

OK , guys , pay attention , i figured it out .. YOU NEED THE REMOTE FOLDER in the Main root WITH A remote file in it , the program says goodbye due to the fact it tries to find a remote list and doesn’t find anything .. so here it is for example
MAIN/PSP/GAMES/ “the 2 UR UR% folders
MAIN/remotes/folder of remote you have/remote .txt file
Notice thats when ppl brag about upgrading to 2.0 and that they have a brouser. They always have to add “ohh yeah I am posting this from my PSP” Lol I guess it makes them feel better about the fact it took them forever to get it typed out on thier psp.
who cares bout a brouser. Its not like 1.5 doesn’t have a brouser anyway.
On my U-Remote Xbox has the same input code as a GE and RCA DVD PLAYERs
I haven’t tryed it yet but I would say it would work with a GE or RCA code.
I will try tomarow and see.
By the way this ONLY works for 1.5 not 2.+ so quit asking why it doesn’t work dumbass upgraders

step 1 , PSP MUST be 1.50
Step 2 , copy the IR and IR% into the Game folder of your psp
Step 3 , make a folder named remote on the mem card , not in any other folder , just the main end : NOTE do not use caps on the “remote” folder.
Step 4 , in the remote folder make another folder named from the model you are gonna use such as sony or zenith
Step 5 , copy over the .txt file into that folder that you are going to use
Step 6 if that file doesn’t work try the next file until the file that belongs to it works - KNOW ING THE MODEL NUMBER OF THE ORIGINAL REMOTE HELPS!

It’s pretty cool, I expected it to be pretty hard to get it to work, but it was fine. I even got my dvd to work with the psp while my actual universal remote could! :) Kinda annoying that the remotes take up some much space and I’m too lazy to look through them all. It’s really cool, and Massa did a great job at what Sony couldn’t have done, utilize the ir technology for continuous use and multipurpose. Great Homebrew! (Question though, was this a mod of DJPSP? The menues and controls acted similar. Not that it’s bad or anything, I just think it’s a good theme. Unlike the stupid Halo mod, Totaly knew it was psprevol when I put it in. Even played a few songs, glad that it has “dissappeared from existence”)

i hate wen gay 1.5 users bitch about how there the best, i only hav a 32 mb stick, so i cant the stuff i really want 2 so i mite as well stay with 2.0 with the web browser witch is way better then the fired up one snes emu, and socom

Also, has anyone gotten this to work with the explorer 8000? It is a cable box for Brighthouse/Time Warner, made by Scientific Atlanta.
I have tried this on my toshiba TV, but so far the only functions that work are the volume buttons. Has anyone gotten this working with Toshiba? I noticed that there is only one txt file in the Toshiba folder.

Massa84 has updated his PSP Universal Remote to version 1.1. PSP Universal Remote is a universal remote controller program, with which you can use on your PSP, to turn it into a universal remote controller for lots of IR controlled devices. In this new version, massa84 has fixed some bugs and added a little new functions to the program:
Solved bugs:
- automatic open of certain files in some folders
- opening of the file philips RC-5 that crashed the psp
- minor fixes
New features:
- Nothing except that if you use very often a remote you can copy the txt file and put it in the folder WITHOUT the % named controller.txt so it will be opened at the startup
This things sweeet and harder to lose then the real remote control!! =D

verry cool program, unfortunatly the map “remotes” require a lot of space (can’t fit on a 32mb) does the program work if I put only the the company names in that dir. of the tv I have. so only remote\philips for my philips tv. or does the full directery contains other needed stuff? the licht of my tv blimps, but I can’t control it. is there a funtion (like with pocket pc) to transmit date to gsm?
oh i know make one for 1.50+ and make it work perfectly…oh wait u cant… u suck
