Quake AdHoc v1.1

Posted by m1ndle5s

Cswindle has done it again! This time you can frag your friends across the nation! Hehe…

Taken from the DCemu forums. Here’s what Cswindle has to say:

Hi All

Here is the latest build of the multiplayer support version of Quake, in this build it has the following additions:
- Infrastructure mode added
- Adhoc & Infrastructure are now enabled via the network menu
- The access point for infrastructure mode setting is in setup in the network settings
- Hacks to speed up the FPS to enable network versions to have less lag
- Sound support in both adhoc & infrastructure

In order to change the access point that you want to use, just go to the network setup menu and press left or right on the access point box.

Hope you enjoy.

Chris Swindle

    This is an awesome update!

#13: YES!!! I have tested this and you CAN play with PC users via infrastructure mode! I have only tested it within my LAN, but I am sure you can play on internet servers if you can get their IP. I think the only way right now that we can get to playing with other PSP players is to get organized and share our IPs when we want to play…

Sorry for the second post, but I did some reading and it seems that right now, actual Internet play is not possible, because you cannot type in the IP. You can only play via LAN. Oh well, it’s a start, and a very good one! :D

Let’s release this source code sometime soon so we can all start integrating this into Doom 2 for PSP!!!! Now getting 4 of my friends playing Dead Simple (lv 10) on our PSP’s will be something I will love more than anything else. Screw GTA and all that crappy 2+ brew.

hey, how come it wont work, i downloaded it and put both the 1.5 folders in GAME and it sais cannot find gfx.wad. where do i get the file that makes it work?

    2006-01-30 17:30:05

you need the wad file in a folder named ID1 wcich should be placed in the quake folder.

This homebrew is one of the best so far, single player, add hoc and infastructure…I cant get my breath

is there any dedicated servers runnings this homebrew or does this require ip connection setup only.

    Comment by Dancing Tofu
    2006-01-30 18:06:15

As of this post, there is no way to connect to servers outside of one’s LAN. If you want a dedicated server running Quake to play on, take that old comp in your closet and turn it into one.
Since their is no way currently to type in an IP address, you can only “search for local games” which just looks for servers on your LAN.

When you install it, you need to place the ID1 folder from the quake shareware (or retail) into the Quake folder on your PSP. Make sure you have that folder.

Could you not play lan via one connector and setup a PPP connection with another lan and play via a virtual lan…

very strange i dunno why this wouldnt work even w/o being able to type the IP can’t u just edit a file so the default IP is one you can use then just USB it and fix it for the different servers?

Yo peeps, Found a simple method to play online :),edit your config, and type “bind triangle connect ip@serv” hence, you need to enable ifrastructure, and load single player level and then press triangle :P

Tried playing ths game a few times. And I really appreciate the release. I will stay on my MS. However, the control is a bit hard, is it possible to map left and right control nub to step left and step right. This setup would be perfect.
