PSP Rhythm v2.1 Released

greg | January 9, 2006

The PSP Rhythm DevTeam have released v2.1 of their popular homebrew application, PSP Rhythm!

For those unaware, PSP Rhythm is a homebrew drum machine for the Sony Playstation Portable. Inspired by classic drum machines such as the Linndrum and Roland TR-series, PSP Rhythm has been created to use the simple, yet effective 16 step style drum sequencer. PSP Rhythm incorporates the use of audio sample playback instead of drum sy nthesis. PSP Rhythm has been directly influenced by one of our favorite modern drum machines, the Elektron MachineDrum. The most significant is our use of “parameter locks” (as used by the MachineDrum). Parameter locks enable you to change the pitch, volume, and pan per step to create moving, changing melodies and effects. This control over your sounds will give you much more creative freedom and allow you to not only use drums, but to use instruments in your music.

What’s new in this version?

  • Easily Skinnable using your own 32bit BMP image files
  • Song Mode – Normal or Loop
  • Text Color (For custom skins)
  • Audio Channels (1-32) – Use this to tune your song for best performance
  • Save System (Text Color, Audio Channels, Song Mode)
  • QUIT? (For future PSP OS 2.0 support)

post #6. OH YEA! well first of all i think its cool becausemaking beats is something that never gets old. ever. if you get tired of the ones u have, you make new ones and thats something games cant do. after you beat a game you cant make new levels.

I think he meant QUIT is for using this with a PSP 2.0 firmware using a loader like Fanjita’s EBOOT loader.

Was wondering for some help….

I have a v1.5(Downgraded from 2.0) and I copy the Rythem folers over to my PSP game directory…

The psp logo appears and dissapears, however all I get is black.

Nothing happens, anyone else run into this, if so, how do you fix it?

Thanks

are there any music making apps on 2.6?

15# No there are none, unless game makers like the old MTV and Dj Scribble makes something to sell. Music making apps right now like this one, is all homebrew. So this one is suitable for FW1.5, not sure on 2.0 and above. But this program is just a start! I change out the sounds, and put the samples from FL Studio in, and I made a full song already! This is a nice start for a beat maker prog. THanks
