GTA:LCS CheatDevice v0.5

Posted by greg

Edison Carter has done it yet again, releasing v0.5 of the ever-so popular GTA:LCS Cheat Device - allowing you to enable/disable cheats easily in Grant Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, and much more - including video recording support, adjusting the CPU clock, and the ability to view battery percent, voltage and temp.

Release notes from v0.5:

v0.5 release notes:

This version lets you change your CPU speed between 222MHz and 333MHz. You can also see your battery level, voltage and temp. This feature is not available on firmware 2.6. The syscalls are all mixed up on 2.6 and it would be prohibitively difficult to discover the CPU and battery stuff on 2.6. You won’t see a difference at 333MHz except when the refresh rate slows down with too many cars on the screen, then it won’t slow down as much. Someone should figure out the difference in battery life between 222MHz and 333MHz.

Video Recorder records an animated GIF at 8 frames per second. I’m not sure if this works better at 222MHz or 333MHz. It’s a little different on each. The CPU time starvation on 222MHz might be a good thing to keep the game from progressing during the snapshot.

Don’t forget to press DOWN+X to stop your video before taking the memory card out!

The GIF file generated is uncompressed. To compress it, load it into anything that can load animated GIFs and then save. Compression reduces the filesize by better than 50%. Always compress the GIF before posting on the web, and limit the length of your recordings to keep the size reasonable!

The Heavy Motorcycle cheat determines the mass of motorcycles when they are first created, like when you open the garage or when you first see one in traffic, so you need to turn it on before opening the garage or finding a motorcycle you want to ride. Once a motorcycle is created, its mass property is set. Other motorcycles on the road will also be heavy, but for peds, their motorcycles burst into flames at the slightest touch of another vehicle. If you don’t want this, get yourself a heavy motorcycle then turn the cheat off so new motorcycles will be normal.

With this cheat, you are the heaviest thing in the universe and in every collision, the other vehicle has to do all the moving to get out of the way. If you shove a car into a wall, it has nowhere else to go so it’ll squirt up into the air like the Yardie Lobo in my video.

If you don’t turn on Your Car Is Indestructible, you get a cool flame effect when you crash into walls.

And as always, these downloads are available at PSP Hacks!

MPH Firmware loader 1.3.6, AVC video support!

Posted by Gary13579

MPH has updated his web site and included a new version of his firmware emulator.
This program allows you to emulate another firmware on your PSP. The goal is to make your entire PSP be another version, but when you reboot, it will be back to the original.
Here is a quote from his site.

I have just finished the last version of firmware launcher which allows to play video (MPEG4 and AVC) with firmware 2.00 launched (2.50 bug).

Source soon available.

More from his site

Video file
The AVC video must be stored in :
{memory stick letter}:/MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQxxxxx.MP4
where xxxxx is number (example MAQ00001.MP4).

The MPEG4 video must be stored in :
{memory stick letter}:/MP_ROOT/100MNV01/M4Vxxxxx.MP4
where xxxxx is number (example M4V00001.MP4).

See http://psp.ign.com/articles/637/637459p1.html for more informations on video files.

Configuration file

Allows to choose firmware folders :
- Change Folder_Flash_0 value to choose flash0 folder relative path (always begin with / and end without /) example : Folder_Flash_0 = “/flash0″ for ms0:/flash0/ folder
- Same with Folder_Flash_1 for flash1
- Use LogFile variable to create a driver log file (example ms0:/driver.log)

The configuration file must be ms0:/mphfl.inf
If no configuration file is installed, firmware launcher use default parameters :
- flash0 : “/flash0″
- flash1 : “/flash1″
- logfile : “ms0:/mphfl_driver.log”

This program is for more advanced users, use with caution. You need to own a firmware dump made by psardumper in order to use this.
You can download the MPH firmware launcher 1.3.6 here.

Currently, you cannot boot GTA (or any other UMD game, for that matter) using this. You will also never be able to downgrade 2.01+ using this program. Please do not ask these questions.

Tetris on PSP Firmware 2.01

Posted by greg

psp3d were able to successfully load and play Tetris on the PSP - with firmware version 2.01!

That’s right. From Hello World yesterday, to Tetris today. We at PSP 3D have successfully ported the first 2.01 game EVER. Thanks to Fanjita for the tips and for the wonderful GTA hack (props to all the people who helped him too). In the next few days, expect this and more games to be ported to 2.5 also (if and when we get SYSCALLs working).

The future looks quite promising for 2.01 (and 2.50?) users!

Download Tetris for PSP firmware v2.01

To install follow the same steps as ‘Hello World’ - posted below.

Hello World on Firmware 2.01 and 2.50!

Posted by greg

psp3d are reporting on successfully running unsigned code on firmware versions 2.01 and 2.50 via the hacked save game file for GTA:LCS released by Edison Carter. This is a huge breakthrough for 2.01/2.50 firmware users!

Hello World for 2.01/2.5 PSPs has now been released by Fanjita. Using Edison Carter’s GTA cheat machine, Fanjita has successfully found a way to load custom code on firmwares 2.XX of the PSP, through a savegame exploit/glitch in GTA.

This program he has compiled successfully demonstrates how to run the Hello World homebrew application on 2.01/2.5 PSPs (which prooves external code launching on 2.XX). In the future, expect things such as an EBOOT loader and more soon!

Quoted by Fanjita, “This Hello World demonstrates the proof of concept that this can be used to run applications, and provides an easier platform for other people to work with - not to mention, a platform for me to get the EBOOT loader working on top of.”

Note that you will need a copy of GTA: LCS in order for you to run this hack! So go out and buy your copy today (heh, Sony should be seeing a lot of profits).

For installation steps, check out the readme.

Big ups to Fanjita on this hack, and extended credits to Jim Paris, psp123, EdisonCarter, abu, toc2rta, groepaz and bitmap1 for their contributions. Great job!

Download Hello World for 2.01/2.50!

Thanks to everyone for the emails. And keep up the great work! :)

Now go buy GTA:LCS - it’s the shit anyway!

PSpoofer v2.0 - Now With Auto Splitting & Joining

Posted by greg

Cleatus of Troy has rewritten a portion of modsyn’s handy PSpoof app.

Previously you were limited to only transfering files no larger than 2MB. Now, with version 2, you’re able to automatically split files larger than 2MB…

Here’s what ole Cleatus had to say:

I, Cleatus of Troy AL, have reinvented the wheel that is PSPoof. This program now splits images at 2MB evenly and can rejoin them on the other side. Also added was clean up of previous operation (by deleting all ms0:/psp/photo/dataX.jpg files), delete chosen file, and a directory chooser for the output joined file.

So what is this again?
PSpoof allows you to “hide” files within a JPEG image and transfer it between PSPs using 2.0’s photo sharing functionality. That’s it!

Download PSpoofer v2.0

Enjoy!
