its the game developers that choose what firmware thier games can run on.

besides, sony made the psp, and without it, we wouldnt be hacking anything, now would we?

Sony is not the game developer. I understand why they would want to shut homebrew down; if you can load ISO’s on a card then you don’t need to buy games. If you don’t buy games Sony loses money on royalties.

I just want to play old games with emulators. Especially Nintendo.

it is great that an exploit has been found within GTA & if this works as discussed, then i will most certainly buy a copy of GTA.. I don’t mind buying one or two games a year if it lets me run homebrew on later firmwares!

I have tested this and the only thing i can see is the first screen of tetris, no bricks falling down… I can pause it, then i think it’s not freezed.. anyone can help me?

It appears to only work on 2.01 so far but its still great work.

Does anyone know what changed from 2.00 to 2.01 that allows/disallows it from running on both?

I figured Sony would do more to lock down the system even more… i just wonder how much they can do without breaking backwards compatibility with the original games.

I do have a scary thought though. Do you think they would ever go as far as to force users to download game specific updates or patches to let the old copies run, in order to allow them to lock the system down even further with newer firmwares that newer games would be compatible with? It would be horrible for consumer relations though. Hopefully it would never come to that.

Just a few things that have been churning in my mind lately.

Why not a little UMD Emulator for now,you know when PS3 comes out for us to use the two together theres gonna be an UPDATE so why not let us have our fun for now…..seems to me SONY knows or know it would be hacked ,I mean look at the games ….aside from SOCOM GTA:LCS BURNOUT and X-MEN Legends 2 and thats it….The PSP will explode soon!!!!

whats the real point in cracking the latest firmwear’s? i meen its good and fun sort of but at the end of the day we need to be able to downgrade back to 1.0 like that thing they were working on and then have customisable firmwear.

question looks like the files are named the same as hello world (tetris files) will i need to change it so it wont overwrite it i mean even the folder is called the same and hw bin

At least that’s what the PARAM.SFO file indicates.

It seems a little too soon for this requirement to be based on any progress anyone is making on a 2.0+ crack, these updates are probably going as planned long ago (except the quick fixes i.e. 2.01, 2.6)

Any 2.0 compatable loader would only allow a handful more titles than currently allowed under 1.5, and a loader for 2.5 looks like it may support newly released games until sometime next spring.

So all this may be good news for you now, but it will likely not be enough for most of you in less than 6 months time.

Once you get your damn GTA/SOCOM loader, what will you be bitchin’ about then?

3. Is this a GTA San Andreas loader for a 3.5?

#34 fuck firmware 2.5 its all about firmware 2.00 becuase of it web browser and it’s capability of playing all new umd games and most of the homebrew using fanjita’s great eboot loader (except for iso rippers and loaders)

KICK ASS! me and my other half bought a psp 2.01 the other day and both want to play the old skool games like sonic 3! and mario kart! can’t wait for the iso loader. BTW you can play tetris on any version of PSP, theres website that i use!
