nope it dosnt work on multiplayer. i tried it. when you through the multiplayer menu it just puts you back to the start of the menu. so you cant actually get into multiplayer

the traditional downgrader changes the version number to 1.00 so you can install 1.50 over 2.00

This technique will not be possible on 2.01+.
From what i know, it is encrypted and i have heard rumours that the location of the version number is different (possibly incorperated into a system file).

Why wouldnt SONY just skip the 2.5 requirement on games and move to the 3.0 encryption? Its just a key tied into the firmware right? Jumping the gun with 2.5 hacked will cheapen it’s deserved greatness!

Remember there are most likely yet-to-be-found exploits within the growing list of FW already released.
Being able to downgrade to 1.5, and thus able to upgrade to which ever version you like, is important, so the latecomers to the scene can look into passed errors in code.

This is good. We need to start exploiting Overflows In GAMES not the firmware, They don’t force game updates unlike firmware updates, so the overflow works onto the next firmware and the next ;)

HAHA now sony must find a way to recode games on the newer firmwares to remove the overflow in the game from working ;), that’s hard considering, they will have to look at the code in MIPS Assembly and rewrite code that fixes the problem when the UMD game gets loaded into memory ;)

i might have created a way to downgrade the psp by upgrading it. i made a 2.70 upgrade. i modifyed the 1.50 eboot and created a 2.70 upgrade the upgrade is still the 1.50 eboot just with a name change, tricking the psp into thinking its a new higher upgrade which will be 2.70 i have not tested this method as im happy with my 1.5 so if any one has a 2.01 psp or higher and would like to test it leave your e-mail address after this post saying “i want to be a guinie pig” please note this might work and it might not i will not be held responsible for damages occured to any psp where the 2.70 eboot is loaded onto

Has anyone thought about hex hacking the firmware 1.5 file to say its version 2.6 and just doing a “upgrade” If that works it would save everyone a lot of efford.. and we can all run 1.5 !!!
