UMD RIPPER 2.5 & LANDE PMF Player

greg | December 7, 2005

Sorry, this was missed and should’ve been posted a few days ago. Nonetheless, here it is!

Lande has released an update to his popular UMD RIPPER application. And has also released a new PMF player.

UMD RIPPER is a Windows application which will help reduce the overall file size of an ISO, allowing you to squeeze more backups onto your memory stick.

The PMF Player will allow you to playback PMF video files on your Windows desktop. PMF files are often found on PSP game UMDs – usually cutscenes, and other related game videos.

Feel free to discuss these fine releases in our PSP Hacks Forums

And as always, download ‘em below:

Download UMD RIPPER v2.5
Download Lande PMF Player v1.0

Lande is also looking for assistance with a translator for these applications. Check here for more information.

Good news…anyone can tell if the promised direct iso ripping is included? And how well does it work? UMD Ripper 2.0 didnt seem to be able to rip a single game for me O_o
Bad news is the missing english language again. Ok the program isnt very difficult to use, but Lande promised when he released 2.0 that only this version wont have english language and 2.1 with english language would follow soon…now some weeks passed and 2.5 is released without english too…Im really curious for what might be the reason X’D

It still can’t go into the proprietary files such as *.bin and *.pak. However, the layout is very kick ass. Want video taken out? Hit video, want audio taken out? Hit audio. Very useful program I gotta say

@#12 this is a windows application for “ripping” stuff out of isos…this has nothing to do with firmware. so you can download it and use it on psp iso games but well…since you cant run isos on 2.5 yet it wont help you a lot ;)

btw…I downloaded it and it works way better than 2.0 now but still cant do the iso unpacking and rebuilding as promised with v 2.0

while I looked through the ripped game I found that this application only does simple copy and paste of files? when im right, the exe comes with some embedded almost empty files and only replaces those that you select similar to the ripkits. If thats right than you could easily code a new application (since it only does copy and paste) with a nice interface and…hmm…lets say as many languages as you want and you have a perfect clone of this application just with more languages. also with the usage of a few dlls you could implement the iso extraction and rebuilding but thats a point where Im not sure since I havent worked in that direction yet. I mailed Lande already twice for translation reasons but never got an answer.

Oh and before ppl start saying “if you think you can do it better than prove it!”…I know the PSP homebrew community and most users are bitching around no matter if theres a reason or not and call me a thief or whatever and Im really not in the mood for fighting X’D

for those of you who still didnt get the sense of my post:
Id like to clear things out about this ripper and I like the direction this app is going to. I just dont get why in 2.0 english was promised for the next 2.1 release which to my knowledge never appeared and in 2.5 you still only have spanish. Dont tell me he cant translate it or he cant find someone to do it. When 2.0 came out I already offered him my help -> no reply. I understand his probs with the pspupdates ppl calling him names and crap but isnt it childish or even racist to remove a language since a few ppl have been soooo evil? ;) 90% of the homebrew community keep their tools/software english or even multi language. now he reduces his work to spanish only, slapping all the people who already have hard times reading english but cant ever dream of knowing spanish. I know for many of you this app is easy to use anyway…but for the same amount of people this app is unusable due to language barriers what shouldnt be the case since its a very good application.

Aye and sorry for writing my suspection here but im not registered to the forums yet…maybe I should do that :P

And now you may bitch around and flame me :D
