the Rss feed is pretty nice. that PSPradio couldnt support the sites with it on it. so I may upgrade.

it is pretty obvious why they are doing this, it is so that the hackers cant stay current on the new firmware. what i mean is by the time they crack 2.5 there is 2.6 and so on.

Grabbing the codec to play WMA’s and trying to place it in the 2.0 or 1.5 firmware would be a good idea. i dont know how to code anything so i wouldnt know if this is even a possibility but would be excellant if you could.

The day after a partially-working loader for 2.0-2.5 firmware is released, (as well as a 2.0 eboot/prx decrypter that works with a few titles), Sony just happens to release 2.6 ?

It won’t be long until only old PSPs (warranty expired) and downgraded PSPs (warranty void) are still running 1.5 fw.
Whats stopping Sony from then intentionally destroying v1.5 PSPs? You’d be left with no option but to buy a new one. It might be easy: you try to load 2.6 with the new firmware loader and end up with a brick.

How hard would it be for sony to skip v7.5 and have all games from here forward wipe the flash of PSPs saying that are v7.5 ?

With all these hacks and exploits, Sony has no time to make great updates. Just think though, if it weren’t for homebrew, we might not even have a web browser yet. Sony has a huge incentive to make appealing upgrades that block homebrew now. Homebrew development pretty much benefits everyone except Sony. In some ways, it can even help them. I would use my PSP less than half as much without homebrew.

sooner or later, sony will just give up on psp if people continue to hack at it, sure its great to play iso’s of other psp games and run emulators off of it, but this is the same reason why certain consoles fail, if everyone can get free psp things, then advancements won’t continue, why would it have to, if they don’t get paid for it? this is buisness, Sony is the reason why your playing the PSP and loving it. The sad part is that I’d like to buy UMD games to run on my PSP, but I’d rather do homebrew. As long as Sony insists that this is an either-or proposition, I’ll buy their loss-leader hardware and pass over their high-margin software. Fortunately, there R eNUF iDiUtZ in this WWW that Sony will sell plenty of games anyway, and PSP will reign.

I predict that they will eventually realize that homebrewers are only 0.01% of their user base, and they will grow tired of revving the firmware every week just to keep us busy.

They release the next update (that have “better” things in them) when hackers get breakthroughs as a “reward” for their interest. Each one more difficult to crack than the last. The faster “we” hack, the faster “we” get to the last firmware, the ultimate firmware.

Or possibly their releasing a load of shit firmwares to keep hackers busy while they work on one they know IS secure. why do the firmwares contain a “security update” if they dont think it can be hacked.

But I do agree that there is really nowhere near enough good developers working on this system - probably because it just isnt as pickup and play as other systems - i have the psp but i do admit to getting tired of the load times associated with umd’s.
