That’s a great idea. The socom headset is cool but… it is pretty “clunky” and it leaves a lot to be desired in the sound department. The don’t stay firmly pressed again your ear, so you lose a lot of the dynamic range of the music and sound effects (ie bass, midrange).

Something that would go in the ear or a headband style would be much more desirable. I will be searching around for a different set or build my own as MIKE did. won’t be hard to do and won’t cost much if any money as I thnink I have all the parts laying around somewhere.

If you do buy a stereo headset with the mic, just make sure there are 3 bands on the mini plug. two are for the headphones and one band is for the mic.

orrr to make life simpler if you have a socom headset for ps2 cut the usb part of the end and attach a headphone lead to it it works and sounds excelent

i just tried this with an nokia headset for the 3100 and some earbuds and i couldnt even get the buds to work once i cut and stripped the wires. there must be more instructions somewhere…
