New GTA:LCS Cheat Device

Posted by greg

Update: v0.1d has been released for the UK version. And also v0.1f for the US. Grab em below:

Download GTA:LCS CheatDevice v0.1f (US)
Download GTA:LCS CheatDevice v0.1d (UK)

Please note these only work on firmware versions 2.0, 2.01 and 2.50!

Edison Carter has released a new version of the GTA:LCS CheatDevice - it now supports firmware version 2.5!

Supported cheats:
Infinite health, adjust wanted level, change time, weather and spawn anything!

The latest version also supports additional weather choices.

How to use it? Simply copy it to your memory stick - the X:\PSP\SAVEDATA directory. Load it up as a saved game, select your cheats, then load another game - it’ll reside in the memory.

From the readme:

Disclaimer: THIS CAN CRASH YOUR GAME. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Some of the spawn choices like the RC toys and boats will crash the game.

Don’t save your game after using this.

And as always, you can download it below:

Download GTA:LCS CheatDevice v0.1c

GTA CheatDevice v0.1 released

Posted by Gary13579

Spartan 117 from our forums has emailed me about a new hack for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, made by Edisoncarter.
It allows you to edit various things in the game, such as spawning any vehicle, getting unlimited health or armor, setting the time, and other misc things.
Here is what Edisoncarter has to say about it.

Here it is! The first and only cheat device for Liberty City Stories!

I implemented a few basic cheats to start with. There’s much more to come!

- Infinite Health and Armor
- Set Wanted Level
- Set Time
- Set Weather
- Spawn Anything

Yes, the Hunter is in the game! To fire the chain gun, press SQUARE+X. Be careful with the spawn choices, some of the silly stuff to spawn like Ferry, Train, and the later Dodo choices will crash your game. Dodo 164 is the one that works. I left the full list in so people can have their own go at trying it. Maybe the boat spawns only work near water, for instance.

I don’t have a UK/Euro version yet. I have to wait for the UK copy I ordered from Lik-Sang.

It looks like this currently only works on FW 2.0. So far everyone trying it on 2.5 is reporting failure. Someone who has FW 2.01 needs to try it. I should be able to fix it for 2.5 in a future version.

Unzip the archive to your memory card so the files go in PSP/SAVEDATA/ULUS10041S0. This replaces the first save on the card.
To start CheatDevice, simply load it like a saved game. Do not load CheatDevice again when it’s already running! Your game will probably crash!

You’re supposed to be able to load another game save while CheatDevice is running, but it sometimes crashes. At least you can load the CheatDevice save and play around in there. For me at least, I can load another game save once after loading CheatDevice, then if I need to load again, I press L1+R1+UP to unload it, then load it again.

Disclaimer: THIS CAN CRASH YOUR GAME, SO USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Don’t use this for doing missions or when you’re planning to save your game.

You can download this file here.

2.0 Required Games on 1.50

Posted by greg

source: joystiq

Aenea has released a PRX & EBOOT file decryptor. This will allow you to boot games off the memory stick which require the 2.0 firmware, such as The Hustle: Detroit Streets, Harvest Moon and Pro Evolution Soccer 5. Unfortunately GTA:LCS is not yet working, amongst a few other titles. No less, it’s a step closer!

Here’s how it works using PES5 ISOs:

  1. Extract the ISO file to a directory on your pc
  2. Remove the SYDIR/UPDATE folder
  3. In USRDIR, remove all the languages you dont want (e_text.afs is English)
  4. Copy SYSDIR/EBOOT.BIN to your PSP, in a folder called “Enc” to the MS Root
  5. Install the PRX & EBOOT file decryptor v0.1 on your PSP as you would any other homebrew app
  6. Run the application - you’ll require 1.50 for this part, of course
  7. Afterwards, you’ll be left with a EBOOT.BIN in a new directory called “Dec”
  8. Rename this EBOOT.BIN (in the Dec folder) to “BOOT.BIN”
  9. Overwrite the BOOT.BIN in SYSDIR with the newly generated one
  10. Overwrite all the PRX files in the USRDIR from another game which uses the 1.50 libraries
  11. Rebuild the ISO using UMDGen
  12. Load up UMD Emulator v0.8c in “Copy Load” mode and turn on “use BOOT.BIN”

Vola!

You can report below on which games are and are not working with this new hack.

Download the PSP 2.X PRX & EBOOT File Decryptor v0.1

Thanks to Scott for the email

How To Connect the Sony PSP to a Xbox 360

Posted by Alias420

Here is a tutorial on how to hook your PSP up to your Xbox 360. If you have an Xbox 360 you should check out Xbox 360 hacks. For all news regarding hacking the Xbox 360.

Below is a PSP next to Xbox 360 (with PGR3 faceplate). In between them, a simple USB to USB mini connector.

Once you have connected the two, all you need to do is put the PSP into USB mode. This can be found in the leftmost “Settings” menu.

Once connected the 360 should recognize the device. Navigate to the Media blade on the 360 and begin by selecting “Music.”

The PSP will be listed as “Portable Device.” Select it and…

You can navigate through the PSP’s (irritating) filesystem. The path is relatively straightforward though, Portable Device : PSP : MUSIC.

For photo playback return to the Media blade and select “Pictures.” Again, select “Portable Device” and again navigate the filesystem until you get to Portable Device : PSP : PHOTO. This should contain all your photos. Mine are organized into playlist folders, and all images had been resized to the PSP’s native 480*272. Considering, they looked almost decent on the giant screen (see pic), so I imagine they would look even better on a more normal-sized screen… say, anything under 8 feet wide.

The menu system allows you to navigate forward, back, stop, pause, and rotate your images. The Pictures playback should be identical for your USB enabled digital camera as well.

Now, if only video playback worked…

PSspoof - Now Working!

Posted by greg

You may remember back in September we ran a story regarding modsyn’s PSP tool entitled PSpoof - allowing you to “hide” files within a JPEG image and transfer it between PSPs using 2.0’s native photo sharing functionality. Now with the use of the Fanjita’s 2.0 EBOOT loader this is fully working!

Download PSpoof v1.2

Be sure to check out modsyn’s site for other development projects.

Enjoy!
