PSP2TV Available Oct 30

Alias420 | October 20, 2005

I’m not quite sure why you would want to hook your PSP up to your TV when there is already a PS2 that does that job well enough, but apparently a lot of people are. On October 30th lik-sang will begin shipping the PSP2TV here is a description click on the image for more info.

The TV Adapter for PSP (PSP2TV) lets you hook up your PSP to your home television (NTSC and PAL) via Composite or S-Video and Stereo connectors. It also lets you connect and use a PS2 controller on your PSP. The installation requires you to open and modify your PSP console, you need to replace the front face plate with the one included. This device is recommended anyone who wants to play their favorite PSP title on the big screen.

  • Allows you to connect your PSP to your TV
  • Allows you to connect and use a normal PS2 Controller
  • Switchable aspect ratio (16:9 - 4:3)
  • Composite, S-Video and Stereo Sound connectivity
  • Requires opening and modifying your PSP system and is only recommended for advanced D.I.Y. technicians

Recent Downtime Part 2

Alias420 | October 20, 2005

Alright well we haven’t had very much in the way of downtime lately but we were down just long enough to put another 512mb of RAM in our server. It is now running quite stable with absolutely no disk thrashing. The PSP Saves section is still down, it is now our number one priority. We hope to have it back up ASAP. Please let us know how the the site is reponding for you as it should now be running smoothly.

Version 1.2 of PSafeP Released in Time for New Trojan

Alias420 | October 19, 2005

Dark Killer has released a new version of his PSafeP. Also someone has released a new PSP trojan, that PSafeP will detect. The new trojan is floating around inside a program labeled DPixy and claims to cure dead pixels. It actually gradually (about 1min) turns your screen black. The PSP is still functional it just doesn’t display anything to the screen. To get your PSP back you need to navigate to the system restore without the aid of seeing what you are doing. Back to the good news about PSafeP here’s what’s new:

PsafeP
v1.2:

  • improved flash read/write detection algorithm (flash0 access for wlan drivers isnt detected as suspicious anymore)
  • added Drag & Drop support
  • bundled COMDLG32.OCX (fix “missing dependency” error)

You can grab the file from our PSP downloads section or by clicking here

SonyXTeam Warns PSP Homebrew Devs

Alias420 | October 19, 2005

For any of you homebrew devs out there working on cracking the 2.50 firmware SonyXTeam has released a warning you may want to look at:

SonyxTeam News We want to warn any team creating version changer programs that the 2.50 index.dat encryption pattern has changed, therefor you have 100% chances of bricking your psps if you try to use it in your flash.
That’s also why we are not using it on our version changer.

The reasons why sony would do such a thing are

- To prevent people from creating version changers (they failed to do so, since we know how to create our own index.dat)

- To prevent people on 2.50 from downgrading using an earlier index.dat version

- Because they think we are dumbasses that would brick some of our psps in the process (that’s too bad since we didn’t brick any of our psps as we tested the 2.50 index.dat using BFM firmware loader).

Also Sony wouldn’t imagine us sniffing in their IPL and figuring out that the Version information is now located into the 2.50 IPL whitch means that the index.dat is now useless and has just the purpous to fool us (yeah $ony just failed mouhahaha, we are way smarter than they imagine, next time I do hope for their sake that they do better….)

Recent Downtime

Alias420 | October 18, 2005

Update: PSP Backgrounds section has been restored.

Update: We seem to be experiencing some disk thrashing that is causing unstability with apache. We will be dropping in some more RAM to rectify the issue. The forums should be working fine now. Please let us know how the site is doing, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Update: Most of the major stuff is done. Let us know how the page is working for you. Do you find it faster or slower?

You may have noticed some distruptions on our web page recently. We are close to being finished our migration to a new server which will hopefully handle the load better. We are still working on the site and service may fluctuate for the next little while. It should be worth it once we are finished :)

PSP GBA 1.0

Gary13579 | October 18, 2005

Finnally, there is a new GBA on the PSP!
This one runs faster then the old VBA v0.03 (and the fake 0.04), and also has a nice GUI like all of the other emulators.

Currently, it doesn’t run at full speed, but now that there is a new one, maybe the author will keep on updating it?

Download the file here.

What do I do if I have v1.52? What do I do if I have 2.1 or 2.5?

Alias420 | October 14, 2005

Ok we have been receiving way too many e-mails asking these questions and my fingers are getting sore from copy and pasting the same replies. So here it is:

If you have a 1.52 then you need to upgrade to 2.0. Once you have upgraded to 2.0 you can use the MPH Downgrader. For more info on downgrading check out this link for a tutorial in our PSP forums.

If you have a 2.1 or 2.5 then you must wait if you wish to run homebrew. The only thing that can help is patience.

Firmware 2.50 is Out

Alias420 | October 13, 2005

Sony has released v2.50 of the PSP’s firmware. Do not upgrade to 2.50 if you want to play homebrew. There is nothing really eye grabbing about this update and no real new features like 2.0’s web browser that would give you something extra. Here is a list of changes:

FEATURES IN 2.50 INCLUDE:

  • [LocationFree Player] has been added as a feature under [Network]. (Click Link for more info)
  • [Auto-Select] and [Unicode (UTF-8)] have been added as options to [Encoding] under [View] in the [Internet Browser] menu bar.
  • [Text Size] and [Display Mode] settings of the [Internet Browser] can now be saved.
  • The input history of online forms accessed through the [Internet Browser] can now be saved.
  • Copyright-protected video can now be played under [Video]. (This applies to video data saved on Memory Stick.)
  • [Set via Internet] has been added as an option to [Date & Time Settings] under [Settings]
  • WPA-PSK (AES) has been added as a security method under [Network Settings].
  • Korean input mode has been added to the on-screen keyboard.

Web Server on a PSP

Alias420 | October 11, 2005

PSPProject.net have successfully run their own custom web server on a Sony PSP. The web server is not currently up as I write this article. The developers have run into a bandwidth issue with their ISP and will be moving it soon. They promise it to be back up within hours. I find this event quite note worthy but also utterly useless for real world. Still, hats off to you PSPProject.net for running the first webserver off a PSP.
