GTA:LCS Custom Soundtrack Converter

greg | October 28, 2005

Update: fart_sniffer from our forums has discovered a simple way to handle track conversion with your existing MP3’s using a combination of a few tools. You can check out his guide here.

Thanks fart_sniffer! :)

Update: Well it seems you’re able to burn your mp3’s onto a cd [as an audio cd - not data] and use the Rockstar Custom Tracks converter to convert the tunes to .gta format. A bit wasteful, but hey - it works!

Ok, now it’s official.

Rockstar has released a ‘Custom Soundtrack Converter’ for GTA:LCS.

Grab it here

Unfortunately this is noted…

A couple of notes are of interest regarding this Custom Tracks application. First, although GTA is all about rhyming and stealing, Rockstar has made the decision to focus exclusively on purchased music. You can only convert music from a store-bought CD — no tracks downloaded from a music blog, no tracks ripped from your buddy’s CD collection. This also means no tracks bought and paid for from services like iTunes or Napster yet, but it could be possible that future versions of the Rockstar Custom Tracks feature might support alternative audio formats.

Before you convert, you must also have at least one GTA: LCS save file on your PSP’s Memory Stick, or else the custom tracks cannot be imported. You must also have a USB cable to transfer the music from a PC to the PSP, and there is currently not an application for Macs to make Custom Soundtracks.

They really fucked up by doing that… At first, I was always telling people that this is the one game worth buying, and that we shouldn’t pirate it.

First we found out that it only runs on 2.0, and now it can’t play mp3s, but only files converted from store bought CDs. Fuck that. As soon as someone figures out how to run the game with 1.5, I’m buying a two gig stick and downloading that bitch.

I downloaded the program and loaded a burned cd into the cd drive and it reads it and all. I dont own the game yet (Having trouble deciding if 1.5 should go for awhile) so i dont know if it will convert it but it most likely will.

You can’t use burnt CDs because official CDs have some kind of signature that says that it’s an authentic CD, and not a copied one.

If u don’t want to burn your songs on a cd try this:
Programs needed:
Nero
Daemon Tools
Rockstar Converter

Steps:
Use Nero to make your CD.
Do not burn the CD, just create an image of it.

Load the image with Daemon Tools

With the Rockstar Converter, choose the virtual drive that has the CD image and convert.

!!EVERYBODY READ!!
This program is the same exact one as the
EAC PSP program from codemasters. TOCA 2 also supports custom tracks. But the good thing about the codemaster one is that it supports mp3s from your hard drive..I tried it and it works!!

OK what you do is go to your PSP Game Save folder and create a NEW FOLDER called ULUS10041CUSTOMTRACKS this is where the custom tracks will be located. Then get yourself a hold of the EAC PSP edition..I got mine at psp-spot.com, I think they also have it here but i didn’t check..

Run the EAC PSP program and there should be an option to convert mp3’s from your hard disk. It will then ask you for an output folder, choose theULUS10041CUSTOMTRACKS in your psp. It will now convert the mp3 files you chose and convert to the proper
format. The program converts the mp3s to .toc files.

Lastly, after conversion is complete go to the output folder and rename all your music from .toc to .gta (make sure you are able to view file extensions in windows or else it won’t work)

After all of that boot up GTA and go to the audio options and turn on custom tracks, then get in a car. and ENJOY!!

2005-10-29 04:41:15

ok listen noobs… first of all to the ppl who are like O yea u can just use to WAB tricker to make it think its a 2.0.. Ultimate noob right there. if you READ like you should you need to have the 2.0 with the video player, thats the reason GTA on the stick isnt working. Secondly, Sony loves to screw you over, this isnt Rockstars doing, Sony actually MADE the game have this “pirate safe” software. What you dont understand is how easy it is to manually go into the iso file and take out these files that are making you have .. 1) bought cds 2) making you have a 2.0 psp. and 3) these crappy stations.

If 90% of the people on this site wernt friggan retarts then you would have half a brain to just rebuild the iso and take out the files needed.. they pretty much are self explanitory.

And another thing… Homebrew kicks ASSSSSSSS

*This way is an easy way to put you own MP3 in GTA LCS Coustom Radio

*If this does noy work tell me I have another way but with one extra step

1. Connect you PSP to your computer

2. Go into “PSP”

3. Now Go into “SAVEDATA”

4. Make A new folder called “ULUS10041CUSTOMTRACKS” (If this did not work go to the bottom)

5.Now you must convert you MP3 into “.gta”

6. So Download and install (after it install choose manually restart computer) -

http://www.mobiledeviant.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=149

7. Open the program

8. Drag an Drop the MP3 you wish to use

9. Once that is done get you file that the program converted it to

10. Change the end of the file to “.gta”

11. Now put this in the folder you made in step 4

12. Start Up GTA LCS and go to “audio” and change the options so it suppots Coustom soundtracks

THE END

**If this proseses does not work go back to step 4 and do it over again**

Step 4 - In “SAVEDATA” go and find your GTA folder

Now make an new folder with the name of you GTA floder in “SAVEDATA”

Now add delet the last to numbers or leters in the name and add ” CUSTOMTRACKS” to the end of it with no space

example- #########CUSTOMTRACKS

And add your “.gta” files to it

THE END

Hey, all, I’m an enlightened soul so don’t brace yourself for a dumbass question or fanboy bullshit, here: I use the EAC Codemasters mp3-converting whatever to make a bunch of custom soundtrack songs and they work FINE (Seriously, you guys with codec problems prolly don’t have the software you need to encode mp3s, aacs, whatev… go get divx, lame, even iTunes, it DOES work!). Here’s the problem, and I’ve seen it noted elsewhere — some songs, in-game, just display the title for a second, then skip to the next one. I haven’t been able to figure out what it is about ‘em that makes the game not play them. Any well-informed ideas about why this might be happening? Thanks!

on cheating…on gta if you want to change character skins with out the game messing up by only going foward and not being able to turn.First do the weapons set with the minigun ,stay equiped with the minigun ,do the character skins cheat. And you’ll still be able to turn.
