Grand Theft Auto - Custom Tracks Support
greg | October 27, 2005
Apparently the custom soundtrack support for GTA:LCS has not been fully implemented yet. According to this article over at gtapsp.com, the Rockstar officials stated it was added “last minute” and to keep checking the official GTA website. Perhaps a patch or something of that nature will be made available in the near future.
On the other hand, some folks are saying you’re required to complete a certain mission in order to enable the custom soundtracks.
Again, this is all pure speculation at the moment.
Quote from gtapsp.com:
My good friend Laz of GTAUnderground.com has just gotten off the phone with Rockstar, who confirmed that the Custom Soundtrack support in Liberty City Stories was added at the “last minute” and that they don’t have any information on it at the moment. He was advised to “keep checking the official site” which leads me to belive that Rockstar will be issuing some sort of patch for the game which enables the custom music.
This may even be the reason for the European delay - what if the UK promoter decided it’d sell better with custom soundtracks in? It is a possibility that they’ve held it back to allow the patch to be added to all UK copies, although that would suggest that an American patch would be available now.
Patches and addons for PSP games aren’t uncommon, with many first party titles having additional content made available via the internet, like Wipeout Pure’s Gamma Packs. Hopefully we’ll know just how to get our own music into the game soon - I know a lot of you aren’t particularly fond of the current Liberty City Stories soundtrack!

i really want a fix for GTA :’(
Have GTA havent played ti though cause i have 1.5 and im still thinking abotu what to do
I like the idea but still want the gta music….for now. I can wait. Can you belive I got a HAIR stuck UNDER the screen of my psp…going exchange…bye.
BRAMBO
#4, play the game, beat it, and keep playing if you like destroying stuff, then afterwards, download the MPH Downgrader and get all your homebrew back, thats what i did
Simply false advertising and/or statments. I have seen in a few mags about this Custom Track option thingy thats one reason for buying this game. Cus I can just go and play it on my PS2 its basicly GTA III but on a small screen
wait, there isnt anything different about this from the ps1 version? youre kidding me..
Its the same places as GTA: 3 for tha PS2 but seems diff missions. It would be off tha hook rite now if I could use my own damn songs and not some Violen and Arab music (No offense to ya guys)
I am going to do some research on this
The whole point of gta was to freaking make gta on the go! not rival ps2’s gta. They are remaking devil may cry 1 for psp, and ill get it because its an awesome game and on the go devil may cry is good. Its not to replace the ps2.
I Dont give a shit if they delayed the AUS release just to throw this on. Thats a stupid fucking reason if you ask me.
Id rather be playing GTA right fucking now and download a patch later on. What fucker decided to delay it?
“The whole point of gta was to freaking make gta on the go!”
-True- But wit custom soundtracks. I dont know if ya guys like arab, violen, and backstreet Boy like music.
actually you are wrong, if you can read, it said “last minute thing due to demand from consumers” so, no it wasnt the whole point of the game obiously, but they are working on fixing it……my suggestion…..if you’re going to just simply bitch about it……it turn off the regualar music (as it will make the game glitch less), and turn on whatever other music you want in the background……works great, and should shut your fucking mouth……if you dont like it, dont listen to it, i dont want to hear it any more about how big of a baby you are and you’re upset that they didnt come and ask you what tunes to put on there…..you disgust me, go drown yourself pussies
“if you can read, it said “last minute thing due to demand from consumers””
Buddy do you sub. to magazines or can you even read?? Theyve been saying this from DAY 1 (one), not no damn last minute. Mabyee you cant read mother F-er. Tell me im bitching, I pay 50 bucks for something that “Promise” Custom tracks, snow, and others that rockstar “Promise” and there not there???? U need to grow up or learn to read. Go to every other gaming site on the web, you will learn there are THOUSANDS of upset people, why? Because of what I said ya dip. Promises that were not met
“I Dont give a shit if they delayed the AUS release just to throw this on. Thats a stupid fucking reason if you ask me.”
I dont think thats the reason, cus it would be pretty hard to burn new discs and ship em out in a week or so
i just got off the fone (i mean me, not “i talked to a guy who heard”) with turn 2 or whatever they said their name was (866 fone number on inside back cover) and the nice limey lady said that R* hasn’t told them how it’s done. she also said by tuesday they’ll know and to call back then.

You can only convert music from a store-bought CD — no tracks downloaded from a music blog, no tracks ripped from your buddy’s CD collection. This also means no tracks bought and paid for from services like iTunes or Napster yet, but it could be possible that future versions of the Rockstar Custom Tracks feature will support alternative audio formats.
Interestingly enough, this is not called the “GTA: LCS Custom Tracks” converter — it’s the “Rockstar Custom Tracks” converter, and while Rockstar mentions the custom tracks are for play currently on GTA:LCS only, future PSP games from the company may be able to use the same music files. When you play music in the game, it does not mix as a radio station as in the Xbox feature for GTA — instead, it plays like a CD player, with the left and right buttons switching the music track instead of changing the radio station. The Custom Soundtrack feature will interface with the FreeDB CD database for picking up the song names and other relevant info about the songs you are converting for play in the game.
Before you convert, you must also have at least one GTA: LCS save file on your PSP’s Memory Stick, or else the custom tracks cannot be imported. You must also have a USB cable to transfer the music from a PC to the PSP, and there is currently not an application for Macs to make Custom Soundtracks.
no’12.
i fuckin agree! these americans are goin on and moonin about custom music and some cant even get the fuckin game (da UK)! they should be playin it not fuckin about cutom music!
perthetic
Hey buddy go to Ebay and order it and get it the next day ya tool. Say us Americans are stupid???
Danny if ur not a kid act ur age quit copy and pasting ya fool
im not im just expressing myself lol, good that you read all the GTA shit threads !
i have the rockstar custom tracks thingy, i got it off of IGN gamers network, apparently you NEED to have BOUGHT the cd to put it over (i think theres a loophole with itunes 5 burning or sumthing like that) am lookin for a hacker or sumthing to break the program, lemme kno if its been done?
