Yep, seems fair to me, especially as they even seem to mention that the charge is to help cover the cost of replacing the console. If you want it done free, but with a small risk of being left with a brick, do it yourself. If you want to be assured that if it goes wrong you still get a 1.5 PSP out of it, pay someone like this to do it.

It’s nothing new, atleast they actually do it for you. Only a few days after the downgrader was released there were LOADS of people selling it on Ebay. Hell I bet they even linked to this site for the download and instructions, now thats taking the piss as some of them were charging upto £30.

Ive been to quantronics and i am prob gonna get the datel 4gb from them. This service is mainly for the noobs who know almost nothing about computers or the internet, ne1 else could do it easily themselves…that being said if i was a noob (prob still am) and i wanted my psp downgraded and did not know anything. Id be glad to have such a service advertised.

The way I see it, you are paying for insurance, not for the actual downgrader. Sure, it’s easy to do on your own, but if you can afford the AU$80, then more power to you. It’s not like the downgrader is faultless, there are more than a few out there that have done everything right and still bricked their PSP. Just luck of the draw.

Myself, I got a 1.5PSP, and have not upgraded it. Until 2.0 is fully hacked, I won’t, though I really do want the new codecs and the web browser, and LCS. :)

hehe…it’s kind of funny because I was downgrading and loading emulators for some friends on their psp’s (and I’m not tech savvy) and they were saying I should charge for it and that people would pay…I thought that was ridiculous and silly…but I guess someone decided to run with the idea. I think if they people are willing to pay, I guess it’s okay…but still kind of silly.

it’s not even on the website anymore so why are you still going on about it? People were paying for the insurance and security, just like fixing a TV or car. Even with manuals you might wreck something.

I think if you read the site more, or even give them a call as I did, you will find they aren’t selling a downgrader, they are selling the service to downgrade the PSP, you have to do it instore so they will not steal your PSP and you can’t scam them buy bricking yours and going ‘oh, you did it, gimme a white one’.

In any case, whether they are ripping people off or not is irrelevant as people are only ripped off if they don’t pay it. Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay and if I paid $80AU and bricked my PSP, I would get a 1.50 PSP (colour of my choice) on the spot and put my memory card in there, I’m sure they don’t pay under $80AU for their PSP’s so good on them.

If you want to do it yourself, feel free to do so, but the choice was there for those that were unsure. And for all the posts about ‘if you cant downgrade you dont deserve to hack it’, what about if i just want to play the homebrew games on it, not isos of anything, like air hockey or chess or something?
