F-Secure the anti virus company has produced a video of a Sony PSP running the PSP Brick trojan. I know we all cringe a little watching it.

I beleive that $ony developers wrote PSP.Brick to discourage homebrew use.

One thing I want to understand! whey still 1.5 downgre still in the Net? because no need of it right now,how had 1.0,1.51,1.52, and even 2.0 they did the downg. and if any one buy PSP today its has 2.1 or 2.5… I don’t know

They do this to analyse the virus and see if there is a fix. If f-secure gets the first fix out on this then they will get their money’s worth. Now expense vs. future profit must average out and bring them money. That is why they are successful.

I don’t know what the guy did exactly, but as I can see from this video is he trying to loading something call(woblog warning) and it’s an image.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just Sony’s way to scare off n00bs in downgrading their psp.
ummm, im pretty sure if you look at the source of that trojan you can read what the message says:

FUCK IT, i won’t put anything else on my psp besides iso’s and emulators. I already have a fuckin browser on my home computer, and it gives me enough problems. Just be smart people. If u don’t know what you are doing than damnit don’t do it.
Hey # 27, why dont you just f**k yourself. This is what happens. There are ppl that due stupid things like this. They put virsises out on the web. they think they are jokes. If your so couragous you go try it with your psp. Upgrade your psp. Then downgrade the same software. See what happens.
There’s gotta be some way of un-bricking PSPs. Ie some way of rewriting. Someday..
I doubt it, it looks like they go in and completely erase the firmware leaving you with nothing to start a boot. About the only thing you can do is to have a spare firmware chip and swap them out. So if you like drop your psp and break it, keep it around for internal parts.

Well 33 there was an old downgrade method months ago that required connecting your psp’s flash directly to your PC’s serial port. Im sure that might still be a way to fix this type of brick. Just reflash firmware…… Ending pwnz. “Thats it(throws psp over shoulder)” LMFAOZ

It’s a bunch of bs – the autoboot is rom the firmware is updateable but base boot can’t be destroyed

Man wtf a virus that bricks the psp… anyways im confused with this homebrew thing and the advantages and disadvantages on 1.5 and 2.0 all i kno is that 1.5 lets you play roms (i havent tried it yet) and 2.0 lets you have a internet browser but disallows you 2 play roms… is there something i can do 2 have both on my psp (rom play capability and internet browser) Oh yea and did Sony make that stupid s*** virus?
I wish sony makes a firmware wit flash on internet, watch tv on psp wit out stupid tv station that is 350$, and other nice weaks. if sony ur reading tis u should try making tis firmware because i know every 1 will upgrade :D
#37 There is a way you can have both. But dont upgrade. On the site http://www.pspcrazy.com there should be an internet brower on the front page. I dont know if it as fast as 2.00, or 2.50 but its worth a try. so theres how you can have both.

oh and about the emulators do u have 2 install it on your memory card.. say that i want marvel vs campcom on my psp using the mame32k emulator do i have 2 install the thing like i would on my pc and insert the marvel vs campcom file along with it?

ye i think the will cause the PSP keeps all data of run applications so ye ur screwed!!
i hate the psp bricks. Once your psp is bricked for now there is no thing that can unbrick it… maybe in the future tho… On most psp’s the downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5 will work but its rather risky so i realy wouldnt bother if i were you
oh and by the way last week my brother bricked his psp so i really, really, really, really wouldnt bother to downgrade it.

Icant work out what it says but thats what i got
my psp had 1.52 i htne flashed to 2.00 then used the guide toflash back to 1.50 all tip top, the risk is same as flashing mobo cd-rw/dvd/rw or graphic card, i flashed over 100 of hardware laptops mp3 players with official and unofficial firmware’s all good, get BitComet and use the Favorites they provided to search for rom’s for the psp

lol… you guys must really think ppl are stupid. Whoever made this video wants to scare ppl with psp. Dont worry. First of all i know pandora can fix that. Second of all, watch the video again and see when he trows the psp. The sound of it falling sounds like a toy fel and it only made the sound once. It would bounce off the ground and it would make the sound a few times. Those ppl who dropped their psp before know what im talking about. Seriously this is bs. Dont get scared. I have a bricked psp that probably only sony can fix. No pandora will fix it. Why do i say that? because i formated my psp internal memory from my computer, and its formated into 1.9 gb. I guess it was a bug when i put format and i really thought my psp’s internal memory would be 1.9gb but it only bricked the psp. Now i tried every pandora there is and it wont work.
