Web Server on a PSP
Alias420 | October 11, 2005
PSPProject.net have successfully run their own custom web server on a Sony PSP. The web server is not currently up as I write this article. The developers have run into a bandwidth issue with their ISP and will be moving it soon. They promise it to be back up within hours. I find this event quite note worthy but also utterly useless for real world. Still, hats off to you PSPProject.net for running the first webserver off a PSP.

i dont get it what is so special about this???
I also dont get it.
WTF I DONT GET IT ID RATHER LISTEN TO HILARY DUFF
Well as a first step it is note worthy. As I stated earlier it is utterly useless right now. But if it could be scaled into an easy homebrew app peer to peer with PSP’s could be possible. Just put your file in the webserver folder then your buddy surfs to you IP and you can get the file right off his memory stick.
This is a SERVER ON PSP! This means that the PSP needs to be turned on 24/7 and support multiple ports. It already hosts one website. I submitted a link to Engadget and they published the storry, consequently causing the PSP hosted website to crash. PSP server still can’t support the large amounts of traffic…Bummer
hm… i like the sound of p2p sharing on your psp… but at the same time that scares me… cuz psp’s are becoming more and more computer like and now that means that they can get virus.
im traumatized from my last virus experience. cuz i gave my computer to my neighbor who is an antihacker for microsoft and he scanned it….
apparently it was the worst infected computer he had seen his whole life. it had over 40,000 viruses on it from limewire and shit.
now that i dont have limewire i cant get my star wars III or final fantasy advent.
i think that malicious hackers are dumbassess with no life with no purupose
but anyways back on the subject of p2p. i do not like the idea of the psp acting like a NORMAL computer one bit.
dont get me wrong i love the music the videos and the pictures but when it can go on the net (good thing) and get a virus that turns your psp into a brick (bad thing) i have to worry about the sake of my $250 fully customized, personalized, and upgraded psp that i put hours, days and even months into. thats when things go just a little too far.
sorry for the long post but i had to make my point.
well i wanna get the new eboot for my psp 2.01 and download as many games as possible before some wize guy decides to infect them somehow
this is good and bad; dumb asses will screw up there psp’s, but p2p would be freakin awesome

@ Tenmaru_Neji u dont have to use p2p to get ur movies, get them from the torrent sites, thats where i got my advent children and all my other movies etc
for some reason torrent never works for me
i need to get my files from someone else… which sucks balls (am i allowed to say that?)
how do we even know it is real. it could just be hosted on a regular server
Thats cool. Guess it doesn’t make it too portable.
Check out these forums, loads uber fast and works with Tenchi No Mon Browser very well. http://pspboards.proboards58.com
Thats pretty cool. i can see use for this app. How? well lets say i wanted to transfer data to a friend, but had no access to a computer, but had WiFi in area and had my psp on me. i could call him up and tell him to go online and download a specific file.
yea what is up with this why would u make yourself more prone to viruses
hmmm is useless… 300 mhz and so less ram are useless for a Webserver…
NO USE
I run a webserver on a xbox…
Where can i download it?
would be more useful if it displayed your contents on your memory stick, and a other psp could download from it
Well first of all Hats of to u, this is an accomplishment however useless at the moment.
I wouldn’t worry to much about the viruse thing, sony or some1 smarter (lol) well come up with some sort of anti viruse.
But the webservers cool.
Im wondering what firmware the webserver psp was running? 1.5?
And does anyone no if the 2.1 was cracked yet?
i know this is off subject, please forgive me. i just bought a 1 gig memory stick for my psp. and i was wondering if anyone knows of a decent and free mp4 converter that can convert my mpegs and possibly even my dvd’s to psp format. i’ve gotten a few programs off of the net but they suck and take forever to convert. thanks i would greatly appriciate it is someone could leave a link.
WAKE UP PSP-HACKS.COM MODS/WEBMASTERS firware 2.5 has been released and i haven’t seen it posted on news!
to get dvd to psp use pspvideo9
and dvd decrypter remember with pspvideo9 make sure u make it go on the desktop in settings or it wont work
the thing looks dangerous
yes this is cool
Hey any one care to explain what this means and its uses??? please email me
Dannyb937@aol.com
thanks…
I’m never going to pay full price for a game again, flash cards for the win!
