PSPRadio 0.34

greg | October 6, 2005

Slow news lately… no less, RAF has released a new version of PSP Radio – v0.34. This is actually v0.34-pre3; however, it’s stable enough to be released. Here’s what RAF had to say about it:

I’m making 0.34-pre3 official, because:
1- it’s stable enough
2-I’m making major internal changes right now, and I’d rather make 0.34-pre3official than waiting until I have everything straightened out.

So, in short, if you’re already using 0.34-pre3; then you’re not missing anything. The only difference is that this release is packaged correctly…

Anyways, here’s the changelog from 0.33b:
0.34
-Corrected the mutex and semaphore implementations..
(Now logging needs more resources because of this though, so it’s probably a
good idea to keep high).
-Also found a bug that would cause the crash on exit (one at least).
(PSPSound’s destructor was accessing the m_ThDecode without checkin if it
existed first.)
-Also added USB support. Needs to be enabled in the config file.
([USB]ENABLED=1; )
-USB support is dangerous. Not recommended.
-Disabled pause for URL streams.
-Lots of internal refactoring.
-Support for playlists v2 was added.
-Now data from playlist v2 is shown, then updated when metadata arrives.
-Can force a profile now, look in the .cfg file to see how.
-Dropped the ‘b’ as is redundant with the -pre.
-Now when pressing L and R, the song only auto starts if the user was currently playing a song.
-Added thread exit synchronization using the semaphore. (Should help make sure the app exits correctly).
-Removed forced network profile code. (As users having problems where able to solve them themselves).
-Tweaked the playlist v2 support so that it (hopefully, test) works with winamp .pls files. (Now I just
ignore the “NumberOfEntries”/”numberofentries” tag.

listening to http://di.fm perfectly!

now I need to figure out how to setup my own server locally so that I can listen to my own mp3s… if that is possible – will look into it

HEY PEEPS… IONO WHAT ALL YOUR PROBLEMS WITH THE PROGRAM TRYING TO FIND UR INTERNET CONNECTION….

WELL FIRST THINGS FIRST…..

U NEED TO mAnUaLy SETUP UR PSP CONNECTION….

NOW THIS PART MOST PEOPLE MESS UP ON… YOU CAN FIND EVERYTHING U NEED TO KNOW FOR A MANUAL SETUP BY USING UR COMPUTER AND LOOKING AT THE CONNECTIONS… (!!!!!! WHEN THE PSP SAYS IP ADRESS WHILE CONFIGURING THE CONNECTION, U HAVE TO MAKE ONE FOR THE PSP NOT THE ONE THAT UR INTERNET CONNECTION USES!!!!!!!!)
IF ALL GOES WELL THE PROGRAM SHOULD WORK…

You cant use the EASY settings. You need to put in the IP and everything manually. If you dont know it, do easy, then do test connection. It will give you the information. Also there is a good tutorial out there, so check that out.

For those that need more channels for their playlist, I have created one with 30 channels. This list pretty much has music from all genres. It however has more trance/dance channels than others since that’s the kind of music I like to listen to ^^. I have included some channels found in previous versions of PSP Radio releases that were not included with current version v0.34b Pre3. Most of the channels in the list are from Shoutcast. To use this playlist and import into your PSP Radio, use Notepad to edit the ‘plv2.pls’ file found in PSPRadio v0.34b Pre3. Copy all the text after my name and replace all the text found within ‘plv2.pls’. Then save the ‘plv2.pls’ file. Next, run PSP Radio v0.34b Pre3 and give it a try. Happy listening ^^.
