What a load of crap. It was a combintation of all the parties mentioned wasn’t it. Tell me if I am wrong or right. First off the program is using the WAB version changer. So the credit for that part goes to Yoshihiro and AloneTrio for he developement of the firmware version changer. Then you have toc2rta who discovered the exploit in the first place. Then you have MPH who put it all together and got the code to run using the exploit while making sure the downgrade went all the way through. So I figure it was all three and they are all squabling for the credit. Alpha testing a product and assuming the risk to confirm that it works also counts as helping. So no matter what anyone says I believe it was a combination of all three parties. They can all assume what ever part of the creditthey want. Maybe they are all affraid of who will get donations. Al in all it doesn’t matter b/c it is released now and they should stop fighting and get together to develope more apps and homebrew instead of fighting. Also they should be thinking of other exploits now b/c Sony will make 2.1 pronto and that will have its own problems. Well if I am wrong then whatever but thats how I see it and I have watched the progression for a couple months now. But on a positive side note

its all good that the downgrader was made, but i miss my 2.00. the 1.50 is just too plain, i’m gonna upgrade back to 2.00 and wait for homebrews for it.

Creds to the guy who discovered the first buffert overflow bug, creds to whomever made the TIFF format the way it is… Creds to Sony for forgetting to check for overflow bugs in the PSPs handling of .tif images. Creds to wab for the version changer (a similar process is obviously used here), creds to toc2rta for finding the exploit (but if it wasn’t them, it WAS going to be someone else, this is no revolutionary “new” kind of bug)… and FINALLY, creds to to MPH for putting this working package together. Nothing more, nothing less. Fuck… I’ll even give Yoshi a bit of cred for being a drama queen and whiner (a pretty funny one, from time to time)! An finally… creds to all the people I forgot. It doesn’t matter what firmware version you put on your psp, it is an entire flash anyways. The only difference you’d find between the JAP and the USA firmwares in 1.5 is Button Config (X –> O) and Region Restrictions for movies. So if you want to play those JAP UMD pornos, I recommend the JAP 1.5! hahaha!

#26: The point is… they’re all ’stealers’, since none of the tricks they built the downgrader on are really new. It’s just a useful remix of old ideas, some as old as the hacking community itself. Hacking basically IS stealing, since you are always basing your ‘new’ discoveries on old theories and facts. Yoshihiro is just a bit more clumsy about the ’stealing’ part then the rest. And they way he seems to worry about ’street cred’ is just ridiculous. :/

I tried the new MPH firmware downgrader on my psp. I add the overflow file to the photo directory and the h.bin and index.dat files to the root but all mine does is freezes for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. Is there something I’m doing wrong here?
