Button (X and O) Swapper for JP PSP 2.0!

greg | September 27, 2005

ELZ-DEV has released a button swapper for JAP 2.0 PSP’s. This will swap X and O - allowing you to use X as select (like the US firmware).

How to use it:
- Place Buttonswap_files and h.bin on the root of your memory stick.

Download 2.0 Button Swapper

The source is also available - download 2.0 Button Swapper Source

It works, just follow the instructions and place the directory and the file into the root of your memory stick. Launch it like how you normally can launch 2.0 apps. you guys ROCK!

This update DOES NOT affect games. Button configuration in games is GAME SPECIFIC. As you notice, running a USA/EUR game, the select button is usually X. While running JAP/KOR the select button is usually O.

This update strictly modifies the configuration of the Sony PSP interface (aka Sony’s OS) to use the X as the default select instead of O for JAP/KOR default.

first insert the background in photos by itself, and set it as your background then delete it, then insert overflow.tif into photos and place the h.bin file into the root of memory card (first bit aka where it says psp, mp root etc)
and go to pictures and scroll down slowly till something comes on and just wait

gud luk - auzzam

I still can not get this working. Files that you say need to go in certain places are not included in the .zip file. Someone needs to put up a “step by step” tutorial up. Something NooB friendly.

Thanks!

Why do none of you stupid little boys know how to spell or even punctuate a sentence correctly? This probably explains why none of you can follow simple instructions. Go back to school and learn some more before asking the same mispelt questions over and over.

49 Yeah and your so mature,And your punctuation is perfect.NOT there asking the same question because no 1 is answering,And as fact following the “SIMPLE” instructions dosent work so why dont you go back to your sad little single life and do whatever the f**k freaks like yourself do.BBBBBBBEEEEEATTCH!

OOOOhhhh I’ve been attacked by a master of the English language “NOT there asking the same question” - Sorry I only speak English. I think my point is proved 50. And please don’t call me a BBBBBBBEEEEEATTCH as it hurts my fragile ego and I think you will find in the modern vernacular it should be spelt b’yatch.

I Dont believe you’ll find it in the dictionary ,So ill spell it as i choose. Its a word just for you,Then again there already plenty of words for you…

1. Transfer the h.bin and buttonswap_files folder into the ms-root of your memory card, (not the mp-root were you put films, the ms-root is the first page that opens, with “psp” folder on it).

2. Open the Hello World app and take out the frame_buffer.png & the overflow.tif (note: your virus checker must be turned OFF to copy overflow.tif as this file has been listed by Sony as a malicious script. This is all we will need from hello world).

3. Transfer the frame_buffer.png to your photo folder (you’ll find this folder in the “psp” folder).

4. Disconnect from your PC and set the frame_buffer.png as your background on your psp. (View it in photo option and press triangle)

5. Re-conect your psp to your PC and transfer the overflow.tif into your photo folder and disconnect again.

6. Enter the photo option again on your psp and follow on screen instructions. (note: this will flash your memory so ensure you have enough power in your battery so that your psp doesn’t turn itself off mid-flash).

well done, if you have followed this properly you now have the european button format.

The instructions in step 53 work perfectly… even for a novice like me. First time, and i love it. It should be noted that it does not work for version 1.5.. i updated my sony from 1.5 to 2.0 for this feature.. hope to downgrade back to 1.5 and still have the buttons working.

Hi all. I have used this program and it worked fine but there was one little setback. I installed it and was mucking around on it, pretty stoked that my X button was now the selection button and i went into Photo. As soon as i enter Photo my PSP freezes for about 20 seconds then crashes and reboots. This is really annoying as i want to put Photos on it. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know the solution? If so can someone please reply to this post or email me on kennyfesting@hotmail.com. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
