WiFi Jukebox v0.01 and PSPRadio v0.31b

Gary13579 | September 25, 2005

Streaming is the new cool thing, because how are we going to fit both PSP games and music on our memory stick :)
Not to worry though, as there are now two good programs to stream music to your PSP.

First, there was an update to PSPRadio, v0.31b.

What’s new:

0.31b
-Corrected problem when PLAYLIST not defined in config file.
-Disabled feature to go to next song in list for now.

-Added support for comments. Use ‘;’ as the first character. (Blank lines are also ignored)
-Now urls with no path work (http://64.202.98.193:8000 didn’t work, but http://64.202.98.193:8000/ did. Now both do).
-Now asking the server to send metadata.
-Metadata information is displayed for the current stream.
-Added a logging library
-Integrated logging with everything (framework, app, config)
-Added an event system
-Integrated the event system. This will be useful when the gui is developed.
-When a stream finishes, it goes on to the next on the playlist
-Fixed problem where the last entry in the playlist was getting inserted twice into the list.
-Having trouble getting the threads to log anything..

It’s too late now.. and I’m tired, so I’ll get the logging fixed for the next release..

Raf.

This is a program that will stream from a shoutcast server onto your PSP. This means you can use tons and tons of online radio stations.
Download the newest version here.

There is also a new streaming program, called WiFi Jukebox.
This program does not use shoutcast servers, but instead has it’s own server including in the rar.
Install and run the server on your computer, type in the root folder of your music, then start up the program on your PSP. It will ask you to select a static IP profile (must be static!) to use.
After you select one, you will need to add the IP of your server.
A lot of people already know this, but half the comments would be saying “OMG IT DOSEN’T WORK” if I didn’t go over it.
To get the IP of the server, go to the computer you ran the server program on.
Hit Start > Run > cmd
Type in ipconfig
You should see IP Address . . . . . . . . . . . . Your IP here

After that it should download the song list and display it. Choose the order of songs you want in your playlist and then continue on to the player.
It will stream the first one, then play it, and stream the next one. Hit R trigger to move on to the next song.
Download WiFi Jukebox here.

Awesome programs :D

Vast majority of PSP owners have 2.0 psp’s. Thats where the future of psp homebrew is.

These look like nifty proggies but im in a 2.0 kinda mood!

It would be great it the developers of this app could make one that would stream video!!

2.0 udgrades updates downgraders and hacks are not the only news thank god… This stuff is really ver nice to play with the PSP Radio is the one i have focused on and the author Raf seems to have a handle on his project. He has been very quick to get patches out when there has been a problem and seems to be adding feature that will alow it to go to the next levels quickly. Raf is not a team but a single programer working on a project and again although it is not 2.0 hacking 101 it is still very news worthy.

#18 and 19

May happen one day but the leap from decoding a audio stream to a video stream is like working on a VW or a Corvet. There is a big diffrence between the 2 but i agree it would be Cool…

These programs have got me incredibly excited. Sadly I’m somewhat of a noob when it comes to the networking aspect of the PSP. On WiFi Jukebox I have everything setup correctly(or so I think) but when I connect it just says connecting for awhile and never does anything else. On PSP Radio I get a connection but when I try to stream something it tells me there was an error opening. Sorry for posting this here but I wasn’t sure where it belonged. Any help would be great. You can contact me here or through AIM at Fluff ffulF. Thanks alot.

Thanks to Halfast, PSP Radio is working great. WiFi Jukebox is working up until the part where I try and play music. I can get the list of mp3s and add them to Queue but I’m not sure how to start them playing. Do they have to download to the PSP first? Do I need to give it more time to start up? Again, I can be contacted at Fluff ffulF or you can post here. Thanks in advance.

I will try to expand the doc file with what Fluff and I lerned today. It is the long hand way but it is very repeatable no matter the wifi you attempt to connect to.

Thanks for the chance to help Fluff

Alright, I got the WiFi Jukebox buffering the second song in my queue instead of the first. How much of the song needs to be downloaded before it will start to play?

As long as you can identify what network you are running on and create a static entree you should be able to connect from a hot spot. But PSPRadio Does not support DHCP
