PSPRadio v0.2 and PSP firmware 2.0 .bin launcher
Gary13579 | September 24, 2005
With all this 2.0 stuff going on right now, I don’t think many people relized there is a new version of this awesome program (I for one didn’t see it).

Hey, everyone,
-Corrected problem where the app froze when exiting while paused/stopped.
(was caused because threads where suspended/asleep)
-Now can play lower samplerate streams (22K, 11K, etc) let me know well this works, since I only tried it with one at 22KHz.
-Integrated socket header files from NetBSD.
-Socket recv and send timeout set to 3 seconds.
-Corrected problems with httpget that would cause the decoding thread to freeze if the connection failed.
-Preliminary playlist support (version 1). Use the shoulder buttons L (prev) and R (next) to navigate the list.
** This is still work in progress ** Don’t expect this version to be perfect, it’s just an enhanced 0.1 **
-Please direct comments and suggestions to http://rafpsp.blogspot.com/Thanks everyone!
Raf.
Download there here.
Another breakthrough in the 2.0 cracking, they have gotten a .bin file to execute. This isn’t the same as the last post, trust me ;)
What this .bin file does is turn the screen blue (can’t you just see the applications?).
Put the file h.bin in the root directory of your memory card, and do the rest like the post below this one.
If you do it right, it should turn your screen blue.
Please remember that this is NOT a homebrew launcher. Currently, you CANNOT use this to play games. However, the chances of that happening are looking really good.
Download it here.

NICE!!! I love psp-hacks i love the psp i love homebrew i love everything!!
how do i use it ?
Hell yea this shit works i hope they make homebrew soon
you have to do the same thing as the other one. And put h.bin in the main folder
plz explain step by step
im still trying to get it to work
wait what the hell is this?
and what does it do?
Can this brick your psp?
but what can you do with it?
nvm it works :D keep it up guys
i shall set up one of my famous
visual help thingys (i dont know what the hell to call it)
where do i save it?
@ 8
I don’t think it could brick you’re psp, testet it about um 5-6 times and it works and works and works ;-)
Nice work! *loves the world* ^^
ah and just put it in you’re root folder, like H:\h.bin and run the *.tif sorry for doubleposting
This post has been removed by a mod
can anyone edit the h.bin file not to set the screen blue??? i want some “hello world” code… ’cause it doesn’t do anyting at all… maybe only is a PSP crash screen…
PD: I want text… no colors!!
@ 12
thx for your reply
seems cool :-P even you can’t do a thing, i think
but if you save it on your Root MS, will your PSP launch it immediatly or do you have to run it like homebrews?
it should look like this
removable disk X(x meaning whatever letter that represents the psp)
\/
psp
h.bin
mp_root
(then inside PSP)
\/
into photo
\/
place frame_buffer inside photo, then go to photo and set it as backround, reconnect and go to photo and delete frame_buffer and add OVERFLOW
then disconnect and go to photo and BAM screen should turn a nice comforting shade of blue
any questions IM me
my screename is BRAEKDOWN
I don’t want text OR colors i just want a snes emu :P
in time NRG, in time
where do i put the pspradio folder?
yeah, i hope there will be a shitload of Homebrews tomorrow :-P
so if this is working, what do the hackers have to do? write a Homebrew that’s compatible with that Bin Launcher? or do they still have to crack the other securities?
sry if im dumb( i’m really dumb..got a weird IQ :-P) but it’s not very clearly to me this text
lol…
i want homebrew too…
but the first step is to show some text on screen…
’cause i’m not really sure if changing the color we’re doing something…
baby steps people, give em time, we may see a “hello world” h/b as early as tonight or tomorow, or it may take weeks for a EMU
just be happy that they finally cracked it
i dont kno what to do :(
refer to my post on #17 or IM me at BRAEKDOWN
all it does is shut my psp off no blue..
…Or maybe this will turn into a big dissapointment for us al, because things don’t go further then painting the screen
#27 IM me or look at post #17
do u have to put the h.bin in a folder in mp_root?
i dont even see a h.bin
IM me if u need help, try and keep questions on here to a minumum and just IM me at BRAEKDOWN
What IM do u use?
instant messenger or yahoo
preferably Insant messenger
well i tried yahoo..breakdown right?
hey i cant even see a h.bin file i dont understand nothing
use AIM and its brAEkdown
where’s the h.bin file help me someone:(
“why doesn’t someone look up in the MIPS R4000 instruction book the code for printing text to the screen and do it them selves” i says with sarcasm … there is no print to screen code when your dealing with assembly language, so just wait for someone with brains to figure this out
ok people, start reading other comments, people with questions IM me at BRAEKDOWN
HELP I CANT FIND THE H.BIN FILE
for christ sake
#42
IM me
i did on yahoo
Well I’m assuming from the blue screen/frozen PSP I have, I was successful. Well, this isn’t SNES on my PSP 2.0, but it’s a start.
are some programmers or hackers already busy to create some homebrews for this?
Some of you, maybe?
#44 yahoo and aim do not go to gether.
so…whats so breakthrough about being able to paint the screen? Just wondering… is it because we are able to actually launch an app? and also, when they say 2.0 being hacked and stuff, does it apply to 1.51 and 1.52? just wondering =D
for pictures and a step by step walkthrough IM me at BRAEKDOWN
#48 how can it work on 1.51 or 1.52 if you can’t set frame_buffer.png as a background ? or didn’t you actually read anything before you posted
good call #50
YES a blue screen its alot better than that stupid orange/yellow screen
now that the screens turn blue what else?
nothing, if it turns blue, mission accomplished, now u just wait for an actual program
You guys don’t realize the big downside to all of this: It’s time consuming and requires access to a computer.
What it IS useful for is an eventual firmware flasher that will put 1.0 or 1.5 on the machine. What it *is not* useful for is running emus, unless you want to load the program once and lose it whenever you have to turn the PSP off. I suppose you could have it load a shell that can run 1.0 eboots and stick with that… for a while, at least. You would still lose it after it gets turned off…
dude, it has a standby mode, so unless you completley shut it off or exit, your all set, but i do see where your going with this
@56 And if you want to run a UMD or a different program, you’re kinda screwed, unless they come up with a shell. Better hope the battery doesn’t go dead, or it doesn’t lock up or you can’t have any more homebrew until you get it back home to a PC.
this is great news now we just got to wait for some stable programs which don’t freze the psp up and shut it down
It worked perfectly fine for me…i have no doubts that we will have h/b real soon
@58 the nature of the buffer overflow is that once the overflow is done, and the code executed, it shuts the machine down due to the threads not closing. I don’t know if this is intentional or not (in windows, you could usually recover from an overflow), but, it does result in the machine shutting down once the dirty work is done. If a program that loops (most programs that require user input use some sort of looping mechanism) is run, the PSP likely wouldn’t shut down until it’s all said and done.
It worked perfectly fine for me…i have no doubts that we will have h/b real soon….PS…wut is this talk about Oct 3rd..suttin will happen big for the PSP..even tho its a stupid advertisement, i think suttin will happen..wus good wit this?
I really hope this is going to work out …
But i have some doubts.
Launching 64kb bin code is not the same as launching some 1mb unsigned homebrew.
But it seems they know what they’re doing.
Keep up the good work.
great news for 2.0 owners..Shit works. ;)
Hey its still better than nothing. Im very pleased that at least someone was still wroking on cracking 2.0 after WAB and PSP-DEV QUit
hey can anyone help my screen is still blue…i think if i can get it blue i might be able to right a homebrew
i mean brown…if i can get it blue! i might be able to right homebrew
if it runs a bin wee can change i tto run another file .bin right?
if you need help IM me at BRAEKDOWN
#64 man! I cant wait …
P.S PSP is the best handheld ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its only getting better
hey breakdown..i dont have aim…i just need to know how to turn my screen blue
i’m glad i got a 1.5. yes, it’s wonderful. don’t have to go through all of this.
its still brown….i have the h.bin file..with the binary in it and i put the buffer in and made it the background and then deleted it and add the overflow and i still got the old brown screen
k
make sure
u put frame_buffer in the photo and set it as backround
then put the h.bin in the section with the folders PSP and MP_ROOT
and delete frame_buffer out of photo and put in over overflow
and go to photo on your psp and it SHOULD be blue
ive still got the brown screen of death…the binary should be in the .bin right?
PLEASE SHOW US SOME SCREENSHOTS!!!sorry for caps lock
i would post some
if i knew how
i would post some, if i knew how to put them up here*

OMG THE SCREEN TURNED BLUE! I CAN”T WAIT TILL THEY MAKE IT TURN RED!!!!!!
Could someone please put a screen shot up of what the blue screen is supposed to look like?…mine is blue but it has a bunch of other weird shit in it like boxes and lines..
where can i find the h.bin at
LOL #83 LOL

After this paragraph ===>

also some info wot mite help u to help me is that i installed 2.0 !!!
please!!!!!! help!
thank-you!
Thank GOD the hackers aren’t as stupid as some of the users. We wouldn’t ever have any HB. How any anyone ask “what does this do..” etc. You had to click on the freaking comment link RIGHT UNDER THE DAMN POST explaining what it does and doesn’t do to post your question.
PS: BrAEkdown you must be a much more patient lad than I.(Yes, I can actually READ…one time, it could have been a typo, but come on people, he spells it that way..its ironic! GET IT?!)
None of you want homebrew. You know what homebrew is? That pong demo is homebrew.
You want illegal emulators and ISO’s. Cos your all kiddy noobs who cant buy a game without doing extra paper deliveries.
I hope you all get busted and go to jail.
Even the guys who found the exploit said they didnt do it so that people could pirate sonys games (every iso you run means one less copy sold, means psp will not be profitable, means that it will go under in 2 years.. duh!)
Also they didnt do it to encourage piracy (yep, snes emus are piracy if you dont own the games).
They did it so you can run crappy demos and stuff. Homebrew is CRAP, but you dont want homebrew, your after ILLEGAL SOFTWARE. So stop calling it homebrew to make yourselves feel better about it kiddies.
BS – Homebrew isn’t “crap” Some of it is stupid, but there are useful apps from homebrew too. Saying there aren’t is insulting to the people who work hard to produce them at no profit. For example: Prior to 2.0, u couldn’t change the background on your psp. With hombrew u can. (not a world killing app, but still, a nice feature). Also, with homebrew, people have created ways to view media file types not supported by Sony, calendar apps, streaming radio, and more. And, given more time and a stable platform (in other words, NO interference from Sony trying to lock independent devs OUT), are more interesting and useful homebrew apps would be available for the PSP. Sony is drastically slowing down the development of such applications because hey, would YOU want to spend a lot of your personal time developing something for free, only to have it be useless to a large portion of your potential users everytime Sony decides to add a new wrinkle to the security of the PSP firmware?
Finally, while SOME people may want 2.0 hacked so they can copy ISOs and run them, I for one am just wanting to run emulators and true homebrew apps. Yes, its true that I don’t own every freaking game I want to play on my PSP. But hey, I want to play SNES on the go…and last time I checked, nintendon’t didn’t have a portable snes out there.
Nuff said.
where do u put the radio file
