Rumour control: VBAPSP v0.04

Yesterday a new file hit the web called VBAPSP v0.04.
There are many things that makes this “new program” seem fake.
First, it runs no faster then VBAPSP v0.03. If it runs the same speed, what is new?
I haven’t actually tested this, but according to many people, the DATA.PSP file in the EBOOT.PBP’s MD5 checksum matches that of VBAPSP 0.03. This would definetly prove that it is the same old version, with a new icon.
Now for the even more ridiculus part.
“This program runs on my 2.0 firmware PSP 33% of the time.”
This is another guy spreading rumours. If it really is true (HA!) post a video.
A program cannot pass checksum 33% of the time. It either passes or fails. It cannot be signed 33% of the time. Sony either signed it or they didn’t.
Update: According to respectable sources on the forums, this is a newer version and runs a tiny bit faster. I don’t have SeiPSPTool right now, but will test it as soon as I can.
Update 2: Alright, this settles it. This thing is a fake.
I just got to a computer with access to the program PBP Unpacker.
Use this program to open up both of the EBOOT.PBP files, and extract the file called DATA.PSP (this is where the actual program is stored). Do this for both of the files.
Now you need to know how to do an MD5SUM. It basically compares a file and will give you a 32 charecter string. If two are the same, then it is the EXACT same program (or a 1 in 9999999999999999999999999999999999 bizare chance).
For those too lazy to follow these instructions, I have already done it.

5895eab4a23cb8051fd0bd1c9080d6e6 *DATA.PSP
C:\>md5sum DATA_NEW.PSP
5895eab4a23cb8051fd0bd1c9080d6e6 *DATA_NEW.PSP
This proves that this is NOT a new version, once and for all!

Well, all I have to say is, if it’s not posted here than I won’t even attempt to download it ;) :). Everything I’ve downloaded from here works properly, and I’m grateful for that, really :D . Thanks for the fair warning by the way!
Hmmm I’ll hceck it later sicne I stupidly updated my PSP to 2.0 and I agree with 1 everything does work so if this isnt posted here probaly doesnt work :P

You guys are dumb for even bothering to try it on a 2.0. Gary13579 is right, how would it be possible to pass the encryption 33% of the time? It’s retarded to think that is plausible for any situation.

I have tested this program on a JAP PSP console with 2.0(first release)firmware and it just displays as ‘corrupted data’…whoever claimed that is Bullsh*tting.I am still not convinced that this release is any faster than the previous,i think this all could be faked…but then i have been wrong in more than one case ;)
I agree with matt i think this is a fake version of the vbapsp it is no faster than version 3.0 and u still can only play one rom at a very slow and choppy pace.
What are some good rpg/fighter/shooter games on the GBA?
I like breathe of fire I and II and Lufia: The Ruins of Lure. Also, both Golden Sun’s are pretty good games. And so is Metroid Fusion.
I just gotta sya, that VBA 0.3 didnt work on 1.5 and nietehr does this one! It load, and send u baCKL TO home W/O ANY ERRORS. iTS A PIECE OF GARBAGE RIGHT NOW.

On games that dont require alot of speed like zelda link to the past and harvest moon I notice a increase of speed. i want to try golden sun 2 on it. for these types of games it is playable
