i upgraded with jap 2.0 and that works great on my american psp. it hasn’t crashed or anything.

It appears as that the JAP 2.0 is now the same hash as the USA 2.0, which it wasn’t before yesterday. So looks to me like SCEA patched a hole or found a critical bug in the first JAP 2.0, we should try to decompile and find the differences in the first JAP 2.0 and the current JAP 2.0

Also explains the delay for the release of the USA 2.0

The Japan release and the US release are identical. Me and my roomate tried it on each of our psp’s. One being 2.0jap the other 2.0usa
Both are identical so those who are wondering what 2.0usa are like. ITS THE SAME!

You can’t overwrite the Jap version? That sucks. It’s caused some sort of error in my THUG 2 game. If I try to save while in a level, the system turns off. I have to quit and go to options.

What I really want to know is when someone with decent coding skill is gonna rewrite/recode xbox’s media player to work on psp. I wants me some DIVX at 460×272

My issue is that I want to update to version 2.0 but at the moment it doesn’t have many pro’s as it does cons. Don’t start with the homebrew crap because I do use homebrew right now. Yeah it is fun and great but I do that while I am at home. Again that’s just me. Now with the new devices and attachments that Sony has supposedly been ramping up for (keyboard, gps, camera) I would imagine that to get all that to work you would possibly need a firmware update to 2.x or possibly 3.0 for drivers/software. I am seriously contemplating the update. Although the only thing we gain actually is the browser, picture share, and AAC codec correct?

My only question was that being able to download AAC were the videos still at 320X240 or do we actually get to encode at higher resolutions? I never really heard or read anything about it.

To update or not to update that is the question that can only be answered by the person holding the PSP.

Sony was making plans to impliment FLASH into a new release after they test to see if the PSP could handle it. If they would impliment full java support you could run SNES and NES emulators from your console. I have seen a few Java emu’s around. (Google for them)

i upgraded my psp to 2.0 because i realized only homebrew i was useing was tenchi nomono w.e browser loader so yeah i updated so i can have more space on my 32 mb card and if you look on psphacks.net it looks like they are getting closer to breaking 2.0 cuase they decrypted the 2.0 firmware upgrade files so that means we are probly gun be able to flash back and to 1.0/1.5 sometime

The JP 2.0 and the US 2.0 are identical. Inside the PBP file is the installer (changed between JP 2.0 and US 2.0) and the update itself (DATA.PSAR) the PSAR files are byte for byte identical. So, don’t worry if you installed the JP 2.0 update and can’t get the US 2.0 to install. There is no difference. Enjoy the update.

#72, no it will not work. If you have a Japanese PSP and update with the US 2.0 Firmware Update, you still will not be able to view American UMD movies. The same applies for an American PSP being updated to JP 2.0.

Hopefully v2.00 gets cracked. Screw cracking v1.51 and v1.52 - v2.00 is more important.

i traded my PSP 1.51 at Gamestop for a 1.50. the only thing was it has one dead pixel on it and one tiny stratch. but the good thing was they didn’t charge me. even steven trade. now i can play the home brew shyte
