Looking at the variables here, we might be able to use this info to trick games into thinking you have a certain version of firmware when you actually have another. All it means is that they figured out how to read the update file and extract its contents. This will not allow you to run homebrew. It is a step towards the right direction, but is a baby step, we still are not anywhere near homebrew on 2.0. Just stick to 1.5 for now.

True, this isn’t exactly the place for it, but what the hell. I’ll try and help you before the flames hit :-). Download PSP Video 9 (http://www.pspvideo9.com/), and run your files through it (do some google searches if you need help with that, there’s lots of documentation). Once your files are processed and turned into PSP format MP4’s, place them in: \MP_ROOT\100ANV01 on your PSP. If this folder does not exist, create it. I am assuming you already have it connected to your computer via a usb cable. If you need a cable go to an electronics store and ask for a USB to mini-B cable. All you should have to do is plug the psp in, and it will appear like a portable storage device.

Few teams know how to do it, but they are waiting for the official launch to announce it, and get the kudos from everyone to be so fast ;)

im not sure if this is a hoax but ive been messing around with the browser and have an idea. windows desktop for the psp is loaded from the root folder on the memroy card through the browser, if i can figure out how it passes the security check then i mihgt be able to get other things to load as well. any ideas!

2.0 has NOT been cracked yet no matter what these other people are saying. Decrypting the DATA.PSP file has nothing to do with the 128 bit AES key required before the hacking teams can even begin heading in the right direction. If you have F/W 1.5X I hear it is smart to upgrade to 2.0 because the security is exactly the same but this might just be hearsay.

The hacking would be summarized in a false setting day towards a version 2.1 starting from a memory board, accepted by firmware 2.0. The video shows navigator Internet in action, made by Sony for the PSP in its firmware 2.0. It shows then a third program conceived for the version 1.52, which seems well to function for version 2.0, and concluded on starting successful from a play makes house to validate the hacking firmware. The developers of this update, which breaks protections owners of Sony, would have affirmed with THG that their intentions are not to encourage with the hacking, but to exploit the potential of the PSP like a free development platform…. But the fact of breaking protections of Sony leaves obviously the door open to any type of hacking, such as the starting of images of plays PSP copied directly starting from a memory board, as it was already the case for the version 1.52 of the firmware.

#54, that is old news. And it had been done on the 1.5 PSPs before. It is not a major step in the homebrew dev. It simply causes an error when running the eboot because the sony OS thinks it is actually a 2.X system. BAck when 1.5 was still being hacked, this was thought to be a potential exploit, but it never followed through. I highly doubt it is worth while for anyone pursuing this road in the attempt to exploit the 2.0 PSPs. I can’t believe Tom’s Hardware even put up this article, they should know better.

These are all just possibilities , don’t get your hopes to high or even worse update to 2.0
They can patch the psp but only those not sent to retailers. Recalls are very expensive, they’ll just end up updating the newer waves of psp like they did in the US. Considering how big Europe is, and the “reason” why sony waited so long to release the euro-psp. Only a minority wont be able to get their hands on a 2.0
Unfortunately this isn’t going to end soon. For every exploit there will be a patch. The worst that can happen is if games start coming with features included only in the newer firmwares. Programs like fastloader will be able to pass the firmware check but not the feature. Chances are the game will just crash.

This is merely a baby step for figuring out the additions made with the 2.0 firmware. But it isn’t anything more than that: information.

2.0 is not hacked yet and probably wont ever be, since 1.51, 1.52 have not been hacked yet and Sony would not drop the protections found in those firmwares when they made 2.0.

I doubt 2.0 will be hacked soon and anyone claiming that it is hacked is just a mindless idiot who knows nothing of PSP development, hacking and crypto systems.

While the 2.0 has opened more doorways for hacking(ie the Browser) there is no hack for 2.0 yet and wont be for a long time.
