I’ve had tons of difficulty getting this to work on my 1.5. Every homebrew I’ve installed works just fine on my PSP, but this app…I can’t get it to work! Some people in the pspupdates.com forums are having the same problems.

Can anyone else confirm if this works for their 1.5, or offer advice?

Question, what does it exactly mean “access” to UMD? Does it work like a RIPPER into an ISO or does it work like LAUNCHING the UMD cartridge?

It lets you view the root directory of the UMD, but no folders. It does not let you rip the actual contents of the UMD.

Nice app. This will get rid of having to connect the psp to a usb just to rename/delete a file. Would I’d like to see would a UMD ripper, and wifi access to transfer files from one psp to another. I know there’s a program out there but this would add a nice touch.

Yeah I also would like to see support for UMD ripping. Also, a status bar when moving files from one directory to another. But overall this is the best file assisten you will see for the PSP.

nevermind, it works. sweet interface. #12 unzip the file, you should find archives called 1.0, 1.5, and src. if you have a firmware 1.5 psp, just copy the two dirs inside the 1.5 file onto your psp\game directory on the psp. the two folders should be the same name, one with a % after it. pretty much the same way you install any homebrew lately.

#16: put 19 spaces in between the FILEASSISTANT 1, so it’ll look like this

#18&19: when i download the file it doesnt give me a folder i can unzip, so the two folders arent there to be renamed

#21 it’s because there’s only one skin at the moment…. to change the background press start although it wont change permanently when exit the app. note the backgrounds are only the01.bmp 02.bmp that’s it… but still very nice…an improvement would be a kind of psppersonalise or wab app integrated :D

By accessing the firmware, you may be able to coustomize files. And possibley in future releases using the wlan you access say a 2.0 psp, and alter their firmware….like deleting the things necessary to make it a 1.5 again….:O

I just can’t get this app to work on my 1.5, I always get an error when I try to load it.

I’ve formatted my memory card and everything to see if that would work.

Hell I’m even using file assistant v.04, and that works fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

I have JAp 1.5 but it doesn’t works…I unzipped the 1.5 folders @ GAME but they dont work…

And I renamed the folder like told in line #19…

I finally got 2 test this out, and I was expecting something great concidering how much I loved the first File asisstant, but while this one has many great functions and fun new stuff, it freezes coonstantly, and the home button automatically returns home, u cant select yes or no. But I can safley say they will make a new version with this fixed. This the first one with alll the changes, so I wouldnt expect perfection.

I can’t get this working on, I’ve tried everything I can think of to no avail. I’ve got a 1.5 psp and everytime I try to start the File Assistant I get a “the game could not be started” error. any help would be appreciated.

dude you have to use kxploit or some program to put the files into your psp. select the 1.0 version and trasfered it to your psp through the program….

This new version wont let us rip the UMD, the older version does….

If you’re having problems with it working on 1.5 unzip the 1.0 and use SEItool or KXploit to export it (remember to copy over the “data” folder to the PSP\Game\FileAssistant Folder)- tested and works fine.

#34 no you don’t. the 2 folders, one with a % and one without, are part of the exploit, it’s already set up to run on 1.5 firmware, as many other homebrews are, which is really nice. i don’t know what the fuss is about with the 19 spaces or whatever, i noticed corrupt filenames so i named it FileAssistant and FileAssistant% and it works perfectly. the name of the folder does not matter, as long as the two are identical except for the %.

what is psp bios 1 and what could you do with it

The 2 bios folders is your psps firmware, you shouldnt mess with those unless you know what your doing because you can permanantly ruin your psp(brick it)

Folks I finally got mine to work, if you scroll up you can see i was having tons of problems. Just rename the folders FileAs and FileAs% (i think…i cant remember). Just go the pspupdates comments on this news item. For some reason, when a developer tries to “hide the corrupt icon for you”, it works on most 1.5 psps, but not all! Perhaps there are different kinds of 1.5s out there, i dunno. But I have to manually hide my corrupt icons using sei’s program.

this update is fucking gay. It doesn’t even let you rip umds into your memory card. stick with the old one.

Hi there has anyone used the UMDDUMPER?? I tryed it with k xploit on my 1.5 psp and it jus froze at the dumping process screen. I restarted my psp and now the psp thinks there is no room on my 512mb memory stick so i can no longer put files on my psp. That UMDDUMPER program F%#$ED up my memory stick. Can anyone help me with this problem??

If you want to rip a UMD to your memory stick then go look elsewhere for some other application!
FileAssistant is a legal program that DOES NOT ENDORSE PIRACY AT ALL!

Works fine for me and looks great… just one big omission… you can’t delete folders/directories just files.

i cant seem to rename file using “number text(s)”,like 1234567890……Anyone else have this problem??????

I had a lot of crashes with this one. Sorry, but it got taken off, and I’m back to file assistant, the older one. That one is stable.

I would Like to say that I have a 1.52 bios psp system and can not run any home brew. But This does not worry me because there are so many amazing programmers out there, I know that sooner or later they will find a way around this. I would like to say a big thanks to the psp hack community you are doing a really good Job. I know the system is new and you need more time. I believe we are close, when I tried Mame on my psp it came close to booting up.
