Sony PSP v1.50’s still out there.

Alias420 | August 9, 2005

Today I went out looking to purchase a v1.50 PSP in downtown Toronto inspired by a friends tale of getting one just days earlier from an EB Games. I checked out EB Games in the Eaton Centre right in the heart of downtown Toronto (the only day this mall closes is Christmas). Unfortunetly all EB had was a bunch of PSP’s with the letter B under the barcode, I was searching for the letter A. I continued in the mall towards the Sony Store and in no more then 5 minutes, I was staring at a Sony PSP value pack with a beautiful letter A under the barcode. I immediately paid for it and left the store to make sure it was the right version. Success! So remember if you are looking for a new PSP try and get one with a letter A on the white sticker under the barcode, because v1.50’s are still out there.

For any of you in Toronto that was the Sony Store in the Eaton’s Centre that had v1.50 in stock.

Well, mine doesn’t have anything under the “120V”. No letter “A”, or “B”, or anything at all. It also happens to be a 1.5, which I picked up the day of release.

It’s also worth checking Zellers up here in Canada, where they seem to have not sold well at all. I still see boxes that don’t even have a letter on them, so they are before the A boxes which are still 1.50

I bought mine last week at a Wal-mart in Hawaii… I just asked the guy to unlock the glass for me so i could get a psp, he unlocked it and handed me a box saying i wasn’t allowed to go through them.

I looked at the bottom seeing a letter A, so i said no prob. they really r many left

I have yet to find a later version PSP. I live in brampton (45 mins away from toronto) and Been to some stores browing psp games. Some stores still have the boxes of psp’s laying in the open. I check for the A, and always find it. In some cases, like said above, didnt see any letters. Just a heads up for perople who dont have psp and want to get into homebrew!

I live in Barrie (the major city just north of Toronto) and there are still plenty of 1.5 PSP’s. In fact I havent seen any 2.0’s yet.

I’m hoping a best buy in the area will have a 1.5

I updated and bought untold legends. Tried different versions, none work. I have the extra warrenty and so I will get back the credit.

Wish me luck.

as of a few weeks ago, the wal-mart in northland mall in Calgary, Alberta still has a pile of gretzky bundles, which are all 1.50s. they were selling them for $298ish (CAD), so if you’re in Calgary, check them out and see if they still have any for that price.

#12, you can’t return a PSP just becuase you don’t like the firmware on it. Thats not how refunds work.

haha yes tdot! anyway down where i live, in durham, we are all out of psp 1.5 brand new, but we have a shit load of psp 1.5 available in openbox, which are the value packs. originally got mine from Futureshop for only 200 with v1.5 mint condition, never opened, just return. so check out Futureshop if your in Canada and ask for openBox. =D

Found a 1.50 at futureshop in Belleville Ontario. The box that they had out on the floor was not a 1.5 but the box was damaged. I asked for a different one so the guy dissapeared for like 10 minutes into the back of the store and returned with a nice new crisp box with a 1.5 in it…

I picked up a used 1.50 at Gamestop at the Mall of America(twin cities), 3 weeks ago. Guy there said(according to coworkers) there’s a whole truckload of ‘em for sale. Thing is, you still have to double check to see if anyone did an upgrade.

Toronto rocks for shopping though.

to #16

I bought mutiple versions of untold legends, before and after the update.

None work on my system but work on my friend’s.

So I just got lucky, considering I have the extended warrenty, they will have to take it back as it isn’t external or intentional damage.

Hey just wanted to let you guys know there are promising things going on the 2.0 being hacked over at http://www.psphacks.net Look under 2.0 homebrew.

So if you don’t have v. 1.5 your not out of luck yet, just give it some time.

ver 1.5s are quite abundant in most of NAmerica, but from what I read, places in Asia actually charge more for a ver 1.5 since their sotcks of them are going really fast.

Seacoast NH report…
Best Buy is not the place to go. I got mine about a month ago and had a ton of dead pixels. Went back the next day and they were all 1.51. I checked Walmart and they all had 1.50. Just stay away from high income tons like Portsmouth and you are bound to find one.

PS to canadians.. Zellers rules!

#21 – Hey bro, I’m in RI and had no problems finding stacks of 1.5’s at Wrentham as well. I actually went with Gamestop online for mine, because it was used and a bit cheaper. They have an online deal right now where you get a free pre-owned GBA (the old ones, not SP). I sold that thing to a local pawn shop for $30 lmao. What a nice rebate!!

ONLY 1.00 (japan) and 1.5 firmwares are able to use emulators.

If you upgrade, (eg 1.51,1.52, 2.00), you CANNOT run roms on your psp…YET.

Personally, I got a 1.51 before I did my research, so I’m going to return it today and exchange it for a 1.5.

It’s open-box so im getting it for 250 CAD :D.

Hah, i had the same problem… bought my PSP expecting to be able to run homebrew and then did my research and learned the whole 1.50 and 1.51/1.52 thing… I bought mine from BestBuy, it was a 1.51, i kept exchanging because of dead pixels.. then thought i might be able to find a 1.50 somewhere… lo and behold, i called like 8 places, and the last place (EB Games) in my local mall had one 1.50 left. LOL, i was asking what the letter was on the side of the box, and the guy at EB Games knew what i was talkin about right away, hes like “yea, its a 1.50 firmware, its our last one left..” So i rushed down there, returned my other one at Best Buy (hehe told em dead pixels) and ran over to EB which is like 200 feet down the hall and bought my 1.50, and when i got there they were just getting in a huge shipment of 1.51’s (B letter), so i got real lucky. Only 2 stuck pixels (which might be able to be fixed), and already running homebrew like nuts… ahh gotta love life with a 1.50… haha

peace,
jchx99
