Sony PSP v1.50’s still out there.
Alias420 | August 9, 2005
Today I went out looking to purchase a v1.50 PSP in downtown Toronto inspired by a friends tale of getting one just days earlier from an EB Games. I checked out EB Games in the Eaton Centre right in the heart of downtown Toronto (the only day this mall closes is Christmas). Unfortunetly all EB had was a bunch of PSP’s with the letter B under the barcode, I was searching for the letter A. I continued in the mall towards the Sony Store and in no more then 5 minutes, I was staring at a Sony PSP value pack with a beautiful letter A under the barcode. I immediately paid for it and left the store to make sure it was the right version. Success! So remember if you are looking for a new PSP try and get one with a letter A on the white sticker under the barcode, because v1.50’s are still out there.

For any of you in Toronto that was the Sony Store in the Eaton’s Centre that had v1.50 in stock.

my local eb games still has an entire wall of 1.5
Well, mine doesn’t have anything under the “120V”. No letter “A”, or “B”, or anything at all. It also happens to be a 1.5, which I picked up the day of release.
It’s also worth checking Zellers up here in Canada, where they seem to have not sold well at all. I still see boxes that don’t even have a letter on them, so they are before the A boxes which are still 1.50
today i got a new psp because my old 1 broke and it was a 1.50 on my old 1 i had updated so i was soooooooo happy
I bought mine last week at a Wal-mart in Hawaii… I just asked the guy to unlock the glass for me so i could get a psp, he unlocked it and handed me a box saying i wasn’t allowed to go through them.
I looked at the bottom seeing a letter A, so i said no prob. they really r many left
Ya, that’s my fault, I said that i found v1.5 psp at eb game in mississauga next to toronto.
I have yet to find a later version PSP. I live in brampton (45 mins away from toronto) and Been to some stores browing psp games. Some stores still have the boxes of psp’s laying in the open. I check for the A, and always find it. In some cases, like said above, didnt see any letters. Just a heads up for perople who dont have psp and want to get into homebrew!
if u got ur psp on the day of release then ur good rite?
and i had my psp updated so what does that mean i cant do it?
typing 4rom my psp! anyway, the sony store had 1.5s cuz well…..THEIR SONY! they had 2 have ordered a HUGE shipment and still had them
Markland Mall Target in Kokomo, Indiana, still has their original shipment (blank under 120v).
I live in Barrie (the major city just north of Toronto) and there are still plenty of 1.5 PSP’s. In fact I havent seen any 2.0’s yet.
I’m hoping a best buy in the area will have a 1.5
I updated and bought untold legends. Tried different versions, none work. I have the extra warrenty and so I will get back the credit.
Wish me luck.
the B’s are 1.52, not 2.0
very nice. thanks for the info, i’ve been wanting it.
as of a few weeks ago, the wal-mart in northland mall in Calgary, Alberta still has a pile of gretzky bundles, which are all 1.50s. they were selling them for $298ish (CAD), so if you’re in Calgary, check them out and see if they still have any for that price.
#12, you can’t return a PSP just becuase you don’t like the firmware on it. Thats not how refunds work.
haha yes tdot! anyway down where i live, in durham, we are all out of psp 1.5 brand new, but we have a shit load of psp 1.5 available in openbox, which are the value packs. originally got mine from Futureshop for only 200 with v1.5 mint condition, never opened, just return. so check out Futureshop if your in Canada and ask for openBox. =D
Found a 1.50 at futureshop in Belleville Ontario. The box that they had out on the floor was not a 1.5 but the box was damaged. I asked for a different one so the guy dissapeared for like 10 minutes into the back of the store and returned with a nice new crisp box with a 1.5 in it…
I picked up a used 1.50 at Gamestop at the Mall of America(twin cities), 3 weeks ago. Guy there said(according to coworkers) there’s a whole truckload of ‘em for sale. Thing is, you still have to double check to see if anyone did an upgrade.
Toronto rocks for shopping though.
hey guys, newegg.com has PLENTY of psp, i think there 1.5, here take a look at this bick of all the boxes, can you tell what it is?

any1 in massachusetts lookin for a 1.50
The Wrentham Village Outlet Mall
(wrentham mass) the sony store there and the music store both have a bunch of 1.50’s
i think its cool how everyone is posting here where to find 1.5’s, way to go guys. helping to get a bigger homebrew community ;)
yea Pennsylvannia(how the hell do you spell it), anyway, in PA, there are a lot of 1.50 PSPs for sale around Bethlehem, Easton smaller places, in places like Philly there are none left I think, I checked 2 wallmarts in Philly.
Maybe around the suburbs but I doubt it.
I just to a PSP from http://www.pcconnection.com and it came with the 1.50 firmware. Right now they have free shipping on orders of $249+. So you get a psp for $250…no taxes, no shipping.
mine has nothing under 120v so i guesse that nothing is a 1.50
system but i picked it up on the day when they came out
LMAO
OMG 1 million PSP at lauch with spider man 2 to avoid stock rupture!
Bought mine august 9 from Kmart in southeast michigan. Letter A and 1.50. Keep the faith!
can u fix PSPs at those sony stores?
I work at a Best Buy in Southern California.. You won’t have much luck there, we’re into our 10th resupply shipment or so.
I picked up my PSP last week and to my luck it was a 1.5.
I got it from The Source in Alliston. Lucky me!
I’ve had mine since April, It is a 1.5 and I will not update until they crack 2.0.–life is great;)
v2.0!! all the way baby!!!
^^^^^
Why?
i know its not this subject but can some 1 help me with getting the tenchi web browser on my psp if u have aim and can explain it my screen name is straitballa90 thanks.
#7, IF YOU HAVE NO LETTERS THEN IT’s 1.5.
#34 ASK THAT IN THE HELP FORUM
yah i live in T.O as well and while around orrilia (a small city north of barrie) i manged to buy a 1.5 psp just a couple of days ago. so the moral is look in obscure places
if you spent as much time looking for a girl as you spent looking for a psp you might get laid .. looser!
try wall-mart or target, do not go to eb games, gamestop, bestbuy, since those are the places ppl are likelly to get it from.
You should buy me one ;)
dudes my psp is 1.52 so i should update to 2.0 right?
Yea I think so, you’re not getting any fun you might as well update.
to #16
I bought mutiple versions of untold legends, before and after the update.
None work on my system but work on my friend’s.
So I just got lucky, considering I have the extended warrenty, they will have to take it back as it isn’t external or intentional damage.
#42 that is weird, how come the game doesnt work on your psp??
hey this is sweet. I live in Toronto. It’s good to know that this site is from here.
#44 no 1 curz! so shutup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey just wanted to let you guys know there are promising things going on the 2.0 being hacked over at http://www.psphacks.net Look under 2.0 homebrew.
So if you don’t have v. 1.5 your not out of luck yet, just give it some time.
yes, Target is a great place, the stock is visible and all were “A”s…
ver 1.5s are quite abundant in most of NAmerica, but from what I read, places in Asia actually charge more for a ver 1.5 since their sotcks of them are going really fast.
is there such software that can rip ps2 games to umd format?
I bought mine in the Eaton Center at EB Games. It was a Value Pack but I dont have any letter printed under the 120V…
it’s a 1.50. I know all the refub ones at EBGames are 1.50
Seacoast NH report…
Best Buy is not the place to go. I got mine about a month ago and had a ton of dead pixels. Went back the next day and they were all 1.51. I checked Walmart and they all had 1.50. Just stay away from high income tons like Portsmouth and you are bound to find one.
PS to canadians.. Zellers rules!
#21 – Hey bro, I’m in RI and had no problems finding stacks of 1.5’s at Wrentham as well. I actually went with Gamestop online for mine, because it was used and a bit cheaper. They have an online deal right now where you get a free pre-owned GBA (the old ones, not SP). I sold that thing to a local pawn shop for $30 lmao. What a nice rebate!!
whast the deal with 1.5 …i have 2.0 ..whats the diffarence?
Ok Someone Explain is it the only way you can get emulators and stuff is on a 1.5 im confused
inst psp-spot canadian aswell?
aswell as psphacks.net
ONLY 1.00 (japan) and 1.5 firmwares are able to use emulators.
If you upgrade, (eg 1.51,1.52, 2.00), you CANNOT run roms on your psp…YET.
Personally, I got a 1.51 before I did my research, so I’m going to return it today and exchange it for a 1.5.
It’s open-box so im getting it for 250 CAD :D.
Hah, i had the same problem… bought my PSP expecting to be able to run homebrew and then did my research and learned the whole 1.50 and 1.51/1.52 thing… I bought mine from BestBuy, it was a 1.51, i kept exchanging because of dead pixels.. then thought i might be able to find a 1.50 somewhere… lo and behold, i called like 8 places, and the last place (EB Games) in my local mall had one 1.50 left. LOL, i was asking what the letter was on the side of the box, and the guy at EB Games knew what i was talkin about right away, hes like “yea, its a 1.50 firmware, its our last one left..” So i rushed down there, returned my other one at Best Buy (hehe told em dead pixels) and ran over to EB which is like 200 feet down the hall and bought my 1.50, and when i got there they were just getting in a huge shipment of 1.51’s (B letter), so i got real lucky. Only 2 stuck pixels (which might be able to be fixed), and already running homebrew like nuts… ahh gotta love life with a 1.50… haha
peace,
jchx99
mine doesnt have either the a or the b, does that mean it was a 1.00 at the time i bought it?
isnt 1.00 japan only.. thats what I thought
Well, my friend just bought a psp yesterday, and it’s a version 1.50. Hopefully he dosn’t update it… Well i HAD a version 1.50, but updated to 2.00
Toronto PSP gamers unite! Let’s set up a meeting somewhere.
lol i just went yesterday to a store and they have a bunch of psp’s without a letter under the barcode, but they don’t have spiderman UMD movie
i found a great deal on craigslist and it just so happened, to my personal benifit that the guy wanted to get rid of one of his PSP’s and it was a 1.5. they are very much still out there!
I saw one at target with an I. What is the firmware if it has an I under the barcode?
