what files need to be taken out of the original ISO to bring it down to 591mb before us8ing the rip? My iso is 885 before touching it, please let me know what directory and what files please, thanks.

#20 I don’t know, I downloaded mine with 549mb, so I neva seen the orignal ISO.

I got the Jap version working but can’t read crap, and the USA version won’t work, crapy hook boot… Anyone else got the USA version working with the Hookboot provided?

I have the US, maybe thats why it doesnt work, i got it down to 509 working fine, the US version by extracting the us iso, and taking out the 179 or so movie in the directory. I will try the jap version with the ripkit, I think that is the problem. Anyone get the US version to work? I used the ripkit on the US version and got it down to 144 and 188 but none of them worked, locked up in different spots.

Don’t keep asking for a UMD ISO Shrinker its on the main page…

You don’t need it extract the files from the iso and they will come down to the actual size then use the ripkit..

Dummy data is in that ISO once you extract the files the size will become normal.. And as this only works with HOOK BOOT you don’t need to recreate an ISO you just copy to the UMD0 directory.

PS: If you have problems with a ripkit state it in the forums, stop leaving silly comments by asking the same stuff again and again without reading previous comments

I have the ISO shrinker, but it does not have an INI file for Ridge Racer. Could someone please tell me where the to find new INI’s for the program. Or better yet, where do I learn how to make my own INI’s? The program’s NFO says that this is possible, but not for the faint of heart. Thanks.

You only need to RIP the part x:\PSP\GAME\RIDGERACERS_____________________1\UMD0\PSP_GAME

Then everything goes down to 187MB (NOT the 134MB what they say above!!)

29 It does work but first you need to change the files from ‘RIDGERACER___________1′ to just ‘RIDGERACER’ and change’RIDGE~1%’ to ‘RIDGERACER%’ then open the hookboot file in PSP\GAME\RIDGERACERS. And edit the umd0 path to’UMD0_PATH=fatms0:/PSP/GAME/RIDGERACERS/UMD0 #MS in each GAME direcry’.

I did this and now it works fine. My psp wont load some programs when they have corrupt icons hiding. This was the case with ridgeracers. I just renamed them to how they should be and edited the hookboot file so it would look in the right place.

#34 I did the same thing, i know what im doing, I ripped the psp-game in the umd0 folder, got it down to 187, it crashes, same with the Jap or US version, doesnt matter which I use, it crashes.

I have tried the US iso, the JAP iso, and the ripped RIDGERACER___________1′, ‘RIDGERACER’ version with no luck, the only ones that load are my 509mb us version or the original 687 version US unpacked. The iso’s for the jap and US packed are 800+ each. Please help, do I need a hook boot or what in my iso?

36 Ridge Racer DOES NOT work with FAST LOADER, it only works with HookBoot.
I have played yet for 6 hours and NO crashes ,everything still works fine. (i have the 1.5 version ,language Dutch)

OK, everyone, Im not talking about ridge on MS loader, im asking for the ridge racer iso at 134 that works with the fast loader. I have the 509 and 800+ version, they work fine on the fastloader. The smaller versions of 187 and 134 ripped versions of both us and jap, none work with the fastloader. #39, Yes, ridge racer works fine on the fast loader, just not the shrunk versions of 134 and 187. The 515 packed iso I made of the US version, works perfect, same with the us iso packed at 885 works perfect.

OK, let me clear up everything for everyone. I have tested ever ISO with every kind of MS boot period. This is what works and what doesn’t. The MS launch of ridge racer by http://www.espalpsp.com works perfect, you can use the ripkit on the PSP_GAME folder and it works fine, bringing the us version to 187 and launching off the MS or the MS Japan version down to 134. The US and Japan ISO (packed) for the fast loader work fine at full size, I even got the US version down to 509 ISO (packed) and working fine. If you use the ripkit on the US or Japan version ISO files (unpacked) and then use the ripped packed ISO on the fast loader, it will not work, I tried to get to work, no deal. Also, to clear up the ridge racer naming, the file names can be named RIDGERACERS_____________________1 and RIDGER~1%, it works fine, just have the hookboot file in the root of the
MS.

MFDOOM, The loaders on the Espalpsp don’t work, each time I set it up with the ripkit and then try to launch it, the launcher doesn’t start.

Your setting it up incorrect. Load the ripkit rip.bat and 0.pmf in the psp/game/RIDGERACERS_____________________1/UMD0 along with the PSP_GAME folder and then run the rip.bat dropping the PSP_GAME down to 187 or so. Look at the size before you run the rip.bat, run it and then check it. Once you do then check the file, it will have dropped down to 187mb. Make sure your hookboot config file is in the root of the psp memory card along with the PSP, MP_ROOT, etc.. folders.

Still no luck…. I got my “hook boot genric settings” in the root of my Mem. Stick (by PSP, MP_ROOT…) and I got my “hook boot config file” in my RIDGERACERS_____________________1 folder. When I load it up with my PSP it just goes straight to the error screen.

48. your getting the error because your file is named wrong. It should be ‘RIDGERACERS’ and ‘RIDGERACERS%’ and edit the hookboot file in the RIDGERACERS folder (just delete the _________1 part, then save it).Do this as i said in post 35. it defo works.

The deal is that there are 2 different hookboots: 1 you need to put in the root and the other one to PSP/GAME/RIDGERACERS/ and the problems will be solved.
P.S. I tried it also a lot of time…but now I am playing it! Thanks!

#50 Doesnt matter what the folder name is, I have mine the same way, just use thed sei tool and name the folder ridge. Reason is becasue a lot of psp have problems reading hidden icon programs with more then 5or 6 letters. I alwasy do 5 or 6 and the folder works fine. Mine at RIDGERACERS_____________________1 and RIDGER~1% work fine.

what is a ripkit? and how do i use it.

Is it possible to open and/or modify the bgm_nps_pack.bin to play 2 or 3 songs in a loop instead of having no music at all? The game is killer, and props goes to this ripkit. I don’t care so much for movies, but listening to some tunes while I race would rock!

I am having a lot of trouble using Hook Boot .94. The directions that come with it are not at all user friendly. Could someone give me a link to a good guide on how to get it up and running? What I am having the most trouble with is all of the junk in the Hook Boot folder, and making an EBOOT.PBP with it.

I have set my hookboot.ini and psp_game pretty much in the right place. i get the ‘push circle to run’ dialogue and then a black screen with ‘run’ showing in the top left corner. then psp powers off. im using the rr 134mb ripped version with hookboot 0.94. any ideas?
