umm, what about support for .ogg files, also a decent set of network utilities such as portable vnc would be great as well. Well what i heard over at pspupdates it will also come with a theme setting (not sure) Maybe like custom icons. Like having a water theme where the background is like water and the icons are bubbles and there are fish swimming around. I am upgrading but it will be hard to my loader for dtr and wipeoout cuz it is really cool

BUt come on sony if you want to stop people hacking and tweeking, release some decent file support, and even if it means forking out £20 quid for a playstation 1 emulator that will run iso’s that can be dwonload from you using a CD id code or something like that, then we would all be happy! ! !
as for the browser the psp is not reli up to web surfing its slower the DIAL UP at times, and there is no keyboard.
I’d say those who like there emulators and such like keep your 1.0 or 1.5, but if your not into the hacking yeah go for the 2.0 firmware after all its catching up with current hacks!

i was an idiot, thinking that the 1.5 would not be cracked, so i went on and upgraded. seeing that there isn’t much progess being made to the 1.51… I suppose I will just upgrade so I can finally encode my music and videos into an efficient format.

Well, I can see why some people who can afford it want to buy a second psp, but me I just couldn’t see the worth. A few more file types being supported- You could just dload a freeware file converter. The web browser- wipeout pure hack. May not be perfect, but it works. I’ll stay with 1.5. for now. And all the people who say they arent going to get homebrew running on 1.51 or 1.52 anyway, just give it some time. Well, I really think buying 2 PSP’s is going overboard. These are video games, not a matter of life and death. If you’re one of the people in the unfortunate situation of having a 1.51+ PSP incapable of running homebrew, just wait. The problem will be solved eventually, and let’s not forget, we’re all following these developments in the hopes of doing something illegal and moreover, free. Under the circumstances I think it’s unfair to complain. As far as upgrading goes, I really don’t think there’s anything Sony could put into an update that would make it worth losing the ability to write software for PSP. But you never know, Sony may have learned their lesson and decided to inconspicuously remove the security features.

Bottom line, if you want to protest to Sony and show them that locking up the PSP is wrong, don’t go out and buy more and play firmware juggling with 2 PSP’s. That’s playing right into their hands and is not going to discourage them.

I read that 2.0 has a feature called Portable TV that allows for wireless video transmission to the PSP. I know I’m gonna update for sure. I don’t really care much for emus anyway.

Its not worth upgrading. like #19 said, the firmware will probaly be hacked with in a week or two of the release. You will probaly be able to use all of new options without upgrading.

im willing to give up emu’s for the new feature of 2.0. no question. snes games run like shit anyways even with the setting tweaked so its not really worth it. i just play emu’s on my modded xbox. much better, and it plays n64 games like a charm. besides, they are gonna make you update for all new games coming out like gta and gt4. give the developers some credit for good games and buy them you cheap asses…

This is an easy decision for me. I’ll stay with 1.5. No doubt about it. What will the new update give me? Nothing! I can still watch movies. I can still listen to music. I can still control my PC. I can still have my own background I can still play games on it. I love emus, and so far Iv’e only found 3 good PSP-games. The rest is pure shit, and so far the only game that could get me to give up homebrew must be FF:BF. For the moment, I have all I need. A web browser? Pfft. How many will use that, really? And for everyone saying “you can still play emus on your PC!” I can tell you that you can still use the internet on YOUR PC. With a KEYBOARD! God… An internet browser for the PSP isn’t really something you’re gonna use. I can figure people get tired of it real quick. No, I won’t be upgrading until version 2.0 gets cracked, and I know it will… eventually.

if emulators are the reason people won’t upgrade… that’s kind of silly. my Series 60 Symbian phone emulates sega genesis, gameboy, snes, etc. with full sound and functionality. and it’s a lot easier to carry around in my pocket than psp. so the solution? upgrade to 2.0 and buy a Nokia 6620 =D.
