DS Emulator a Hoax
greg | July 20, 2005
Earlier there were some sites posting about a Nintendo DS emulator in the works – titled iDeaSp. We held off on posting this story as we figured it was more than likely a hoax. Now it’s been confirmed that it is indeed some weak publicity stunt.
Directly from their website – www.pspdomain.net
” As you may have guessed this is not really a DS emulator for the PSP . It’s true that it was
photoshoped from respected websites. DO YOU THINK WE WOULD ACTUALLY TELL
YOU WHAT WE HAVE PLANED. NO! you will have to wait and no it’s not a DS emulator
no one in their right mind would do this. But it will be a big development in the PSP
Scene.(Nothing to do with iso’s what so ever) but not stating what it is for a couple of weeks.
Hope no one got their hope’s up about the DS emulator because what we have planned is
better anyhow. See you on the 25th 12229psp”
Thanks to Ash for the news.

So why exactly would no one give this a try? The DS is the equivelant of a N64, the PSP nearly a PS2, so its got the power. Though to emulate the DS requires a lot more power than the DS has itself, I’d still be interested in playing 10-15fps Nintendogs or Metroid.
One gets the feeling that the younger demographic’s desire to say “my DS soccer ball is better than your PSP basketball” is affecting the decisions of developers.
I was starting to really beleive about the ds emulator and how it would maybe give the psp a boost but come people i still beleive that there will be an emulator because the psp has the abilit and the knob can work as the stylus and come on people even allof the games dont work. And im a big nintendo fand and yet i own a psp which i have homebrew and i dont care what big project they have working for the psp the biggest they wiil hvae is the ds emulator for the psp.
and how were we gonna use the touchscreen am i the only one who doesnt even want a ds emulator
if you get like 20-30 fps on a snes emulator i think you would get like 5 fps on a ds emulator haha
i bet it is a N64 emulator!
I’m beginning to disbelieve they have anything whatsoever, with the dumb hoax they just pulled. What a waste of interest (not that I’d want a DS emulator in the first place).
Bah, a DS emulator would be worth it purely for the irony. That was a pretty obvious hoax though, damn attention whores.
as far as i’m concerned, nintendo has been shooting itself in the foot since the beginning of the new millenium. after about the n64, nintendo lost touch with the people who made it so successful: the generation of 20-somethings that grew up w/the old NES. who grew up with games such as mario, zelda, tetris, and metroid. glorious days, i think any sane person would agree with me.
now, post-N64 days, IMHO, it pretty much went to hell. oh sure, you have the gamecube, which brought continued to see improvement through continuations of old favorites such as mario (however odd sunshine was), and with a new, interesting twist for metroid. zelda, however, didn’t fare so well for people like me (CEL SHADING, for fuck’s sake), and as for donkey konga, well, let’s just say those bongos have a place in the closet next to good ol’ R.O.B. and the Power Glove. all i can say is thank God for Twilight Princess.
as for the ds, it continues in nintendo’s new tradition of ruining true-blue gaming, if only for the sake of “originality”. sure the touchscreen is a good idea, but i’ll bet it’s gonna be a bitch eventually to get developers, and will suffer from about the same fate as the N64 (and in a cruel twist of irony, it’s about the same graphically). and as for gameplay originality? “Warioware Touched!”, while indeed original, is probably completely impractical after you’ve reached the double-digit age groups. “Nintendogs”? no thanks, i’ve got two real ones, and they’ve got the added bonus of letting me know if somebody’s @ the door. can’t imagine a virtual one would be that much fun, now or ever.
to be perfectly fair, i was once a nintendo devotee; it was all i used to buy/ask for. unless they can quit resting on their laurels, and knock off the “experimentation”, the nintendo i knew and loved is dead. (to be even more honest, sony’s dealings as of late have been kinda shitty themselves, but i’m stickin w/the lesser of the two evils for now)
alright, rant over. sry so long, hadta say it once and for all.
WHAT!??! Well, I have a DS anyway, and It wouldnt be the same if they didnt have touch. Really the DS sucks other than that! Anyway, THEY BETTER HAVE SOME GOOD ASS SHIT TO GIVE US!!
this will never happen only non touch screen games would work. so whats the point id like to see a good gba emu or at least a snes one were you could play star fox
ive been leaked the information its a 30+ fps gameboy advance emulator runs well now but they are running back threw to check for bugs and patch up a few things
what a gift from god this is :)
Touch screen could be supported by the analog stick. XO[]^ pad could control the AB buttons on the DS. It’s not too hard to have recognition of a cursor moving over something and have it act like it was being “touched”. As with any console we only have two hands, so you can work easily enough with it. Yes, I know it would be awkward but considering how unusable many of the PSP emulators are ATM, (VGBA) the PSP seems to be a forum of “Look what I can sorta do” so it’d fit right in.
bigred85,
I *completely* agree with you. NES en SNES ruled, but after that….
so its 25th today…. where is the BIG thing?
We said the 25th of august….
wat is an emulator? im new to all this stuff so what is it?
C’mon, there isn’t even a DS-emulator that runs commercial games on PC. It’s not that it’s not possible, it’s just too damn hard.
Now lets not be retarded. No$gba is a DS emulator that runs DS games perfectly on the PC!!!!!!! It’s been out for some time as well….
