… my question is how likely is it that this emulator will run with decent FPS? I mean compared to an xbox the PSP is not as powerful and a modded xbox has problems emulating PS1. An xbox is a 733mhz machine whereas the PSP is 333mhz at most. Don’t want to be negative, just realistic. Though I give praise to the devloper for giving it a go.

well the sit pspupdates has a full screen and full speed emu of genisis, it doesnt work with ALL roms but it workes with a lot!! theres a lot of other options too. mabey this site will have it soon….

#15: you must be a bit of a noob yourself; even when running @ 333 MHz, you still have to use frameskip to even get MARIO running @ the right speed. don’t open your mouth unless you’ve got something intelligent to say, dumbass.

and while i’m on the subject of dumbasses, you’re one of the mass number that seem to always be happy with slow emulators, or shitty programs, etc. i’ll agree that developers need credit, but if something’s half-finished, or performing sub-par, people need to know about it, instead of just accepting incomplete or underpowered programs. if you wanna worship developers over something that’s incomplete, fine with me, but in short, stfu. that is all.

PC emulators even use Frame skip on SNES to make it look smoother, and if it werent for the makers of the SNES emu for PSP you wouldnt have it in the first place. Unless you can make a better on I think you need to learn respect.

Most of the time, the speed of your machine isnt what is bottlenecking an improvement in FPS - 333mhz should be enough - its all about the efficiency of recompliers or even interpreters. With the release of the ps1 emu just days before this post, you probably shouldnt expect anything to be even close to consistent performance - wait a couple of months, maybe years, and you’ve probably got yourself a damn good emu.

And 333mhz is enough doom runs way better and smoother. Its not the game that lags up the PSP but the emulator/program their still fixing up the program to a point where you wont need frameskip to make Mario go smooth if Doom and Quake can run smooth and their doing much more im pretty sure it isnt the system but the emulator

If you have seen project64 (the n64 emulator for PC) you should know that the efficiency of recompiling rom images determines the success of the emulator. ePSXe is fairly advanced, but a simple porting of the software wouldn’t work - at least i do not see a way to. Making even a ps2 emulator would be easier, simply because the psp uses very similar programming language in relation to the ps2 (a modded form really) - maybe someone should start on that :)

On subject: Personally, I think the only thing holding this project back is the lack of the L2 and R2 buttons, but that could possibly be worked around by using some sort of toggle or something usnig the analog nub. Like, press up on it, and it switches the functions of the L and R buttons, hit it again, switches them back. May be a bit confusing, but I’m sure it could work out for most games.

check up project 64 - theyve been kinda dead for awhile, with their final release being *i think* 5 beta. but either way, their n64 emulator is unarguably the best their is - basically all games work (if not counting artifacts)

as for porting it on the psp - you really dont need that much work - there is one for the xbox and pc, and as for psp - it couldnt be that hard.
