New PSP Hacks Tutorials
greg | June 23, 2005
I took some time last night to put together two quick tutorials (with screenshots):
We are hoping these will solve many issues people are experiencing when trying to get homebrew running on their 1.50 and/or changing their PSP background using PSPersonalize. If you have any additional questions, please discuss in our forums under the Help section.
If we’ve missed anything or something appears to be inaccurate, please let us know by sending an email to hacks@psp-hacks.com
Check out our PSP Hacks area for more tutorials.
Additionally check out psp-tutorials.tk for tutorials provided by Nukewire.
Enjoy!

execellent work. had some trouble cause i am an early morning stoned pimp and well my brain wasn’t operating. Thanks for jumpstarting my brain with the well informed tutorial.
Pretty good, but only for the things I already know… Anyway thy’re good, but the KXploit one seems a bit complicated at the begginning. whn i downloaded, i didnt have to decompress and all that. Oh and im not sure, but i dont think its as wise to use the bigger files for the monthly BGs, cause I think it makes the psp a bit slower or something. IS that true?
No, the reason they need to be small is because there is a limit to the PSP’s onboard flash memory.
From now on, all releases should be in form of \Folder and \Folder%
That way, we really don’t need the kxploit tool at all! ;)
Yeah, KXploit doesn’t really do anything but put there custom icon and bacround image. I can use PSP Hombrew 9, or one of those others and just add “%” to the end of th MS@ folder and it works the same. Technically, Killer-X is just taking credit for figuring out to put the percent sign. I had been trying and messing around with stuff like this, but I was using things like 2, #, * and trying to make a different names eboot file and hopefully use them on one memstck, but whatever. #4’s right.
Oh and Im sure the files are too big ib that res cause when I used a set fo the bgs from here to see how they looked, the PSP could only display every other one and the currupted date icon was just blank whited and other crap was screwed up. Anyway, i like using the smaller files. I suggeszt u change the tutorial to say that they should be 60 x 34 unless u plan on only using a few images of 300 x 170.
(Damn that crap was long!)
help…mine still dont work i followed the steps one by one and still nothing i got everything. on my PSP theres 2 things in my game folder: the PSP-DEV LAUNCHER and the corrupt data thing…i run the LAUNCHER but it takes me to a screen says: SAVE/ and STATE/ iv clicked on everything here and still nothing what did i do wrong?
I too cannot get it to work. I use the KXploit to create the DOOM and DOOM-SELECTOR folders. Now I have DOOM, DOOM% DOOM-SELECTOR, and a DOOM-SELECTOR% folder. Then I copy the WAD files to the DOOM-PSP folder. Now when I activate the selector I see no WAD files. I can play Doom 2 if I don’t select the SELECTOR.
What am I doing wrong.
P.S. I hace no UMD in the PSP while I do this
P.S. I pic of their directory tree, to show exactally where the files should be, would help
does anyone know what program i can use to create my own .AT3 files. if you notice on the pspersonalize it starts up with a sound. please respond =D
mine doesnt read the bmp image on the root directory but it does read the psppersonalize when i selected it boots the file and then says finished but it doesnt display the image(still i think the problem is that is not reading the image in the root directory,i downloaded one from the site and it stil doesnt read the image.
I did all the steps for the pspersonalizer, loaded it up, screen said finished i hit home, reboot my psp and still the background is the same..i followed the directions on this website…what happen?
Nice…
Cool…
