Yeah, this will be a great release. This has been a good week. Battlefield 2 gets released, now the news of this. I have to go buy another PSP though. I accidentally updated mine to 1.51, I figured with Quake 2 and Duke Nukem being able to be played I HAVE to go back and get a 1.5. I have to say I was getting doubtful our 1.50’s were hackable at one point.. But now there is a light at the end of the tunnel! So far all these hacks are great and make the PSP definetely worth our pennies. Considering how SONY decided to release about 5 games between now and August (jerks). All we need now is a better SNES emulator that runs full frames and maybe a N64 emulator too…

i think its gonna be a program that does the swap and re-aranges folders like the swap which would be preety simple IF windows allowed u to give 2 folders the same name but a bet a some software could easly patch that up if u told it where to find the second folder

You still need 2 files, but you run off ROOT.PBP and then a line of code makes it switch to ROOT2.PBP. That seems so simple doesnt it?

Why would anyone kiss your azzz? I bought my 1.0 for $308. So I either sell my 1.5 for $250 and have still paid less then the cost of a second memory stick which is what MOST people did here. Or I sell the 1.0 for more money then I paid for it. Either way I made money or saved money on the deal. Plus, the 1.0 will still be easier to use as it loads all apps with no extra steps.

I was fully happy with the swap ploit, to me this no-swap hack is just an added bounus. My hat goes off to PSP-DEV for all the hard work they have done… now back to zelda on the psp :).

I wonder why they bothered to make a new video??? Their first video showed a no swap method. Which is what ticked most people off to being with.

It is not completely No-Swap, you must swap one time, just notice how they kept the video dark on the beginning, while they did their trick. Once you swap it loads the proper software so that you won’t need to swap again, unless you turn off your PSP.

I think 48 might be right. From the looks of the video you might need to perform a swap trick once then after that you might be able to load any program you want without swapping. That is until you turn it off. I just can’t shake the fact that the video is pitch black as first. They make the worst videos…. on purpose.

1. When they say no swap-trick I trust that they are saying you dont need 2 memory cards for ANY OF IT. Also for some reason the GBA emulator isnt working, I tries methods 1 and 2 of the read me.

in my mind i see it as a ONE TIME SWAP trick for as long as the psp is running

so.. swap once quick and run every emulator / roms for the rest of the psp’s power time

something along them lines.. cause at the start of the movie u can see the psp shift a little bit.. (while in dark) then it zooms out with lights on and he loads it up again..

Well if it is one time swap when you turn it on then its not gonna help me as i dont really switch between emulators and once im done – im done, switch it off so ill probably have to keep doing it – but i hope thats its a no swap or even a one swap that does something to the firmware which allows it to load when ever you want. Ah well – im still happy with the current method so i dont mind either way.

Oh and on another subject the Gba emulator doesnt work with 1.50 yet – im guessing its the same reason the snes intially didnt work.

No, the SNES emu worked, but only with method 2 on the swaploit read me. These emu doesnt work with method one or 2 for some odd reason.

Anybody notice that you could only see the screen? Not to be a major skeptic, but they could have easily swapped a mem stick in the time span I saw. Sorry to cast doubt, I just thought it was odd.
On a lighter note, with them already being able to get it to think the loader EBOOT was legit, it only makes sense that they would eventually figure out how to have a “legit” file that points to the EBOOT we want it to run. If I were back in programming already and not busy re-learning everything I forgot, I’d have tried to do it myself.
All in all, I personally expect to see something along the lines of what I mentioned, which would be damn nice (I’m not gonna complain about having to swap [as it's better than what I had => nothing], but not having to swap would be damn hot).

Actualy that would be like buying a ford car and having ford update the on-board computer when you bring it in. Which is exactly what they do if you have an older version. There is nothing illegal about it. However if Sony breaks it then Sony would have to fix it so maybe that route isn’t something they would do for that reason. Although in order to play the game you would have to update anyway….

Yah ,it did ask and the update broke the PSP (which if some might recall one of the 1st updates in Japan did :( ) Then they would be liable, I think they see this and it way too risky to lose money on a secret update. As for the 1.0 perchasers if ur happy with it fine, your probably the people who didnt give the $250 price tag on the PSP a 2nd thought any way.

Ive been content with doing the swap, I don’t see why its so hard for some people. The instructions are clear enough. This no-swap exploit will make playing homebrew easier, I don’t really care how it works. Im just happy to have decent games to play on my psp, because Sony honestly hasn’t done their part in releasing decent games, just movies, id rather buy a regular dvd(they are usually less money). They need to make a video out cable for the psp. Then I would buy the movies. Im just impressed on how much stuff is being made every day, It has made the psp well worth the money. fLuffer, I just tried your idea. I started to boot WipeOut and swapped it with Mercury. I did it a few times at different points and got mixed results. The unit either went back to the menu or it would continue to boot the second UMD.

You have to be DAMN QUICK to get the second UMD to boot.

I don’t have any Jap UMDs with the updates to test your theory. Damn good idea though!

202: sony will put the firmware onto the game discs and when you boot the game it will scan your firmware and if its not up to date it will auto update.

ok I just tried to run it on 1.51, first off it comes up with the game could not be started (80020148) when I run the launcher thingy.

The file below it has no icon and just says Corrupted Data….Anyone else have this problem? Or is it just the 1.51 FUCKING MY HOPES UP!

Exactly! Thanks for the link, I couldn’t find any right away. If he thinks the game would force you to update before you play yet not include the update AND the user has no internet then how exactly does he expect the user to update?

His thought process simply isn’t logical. I guess he expects the user to throw the game away and think, “Oh well it was only $40. To bad for me until I get internet.”

Or maybe he thinks Sony will ship him the update on a special HaredX UMD just for him :)
