PSP Swaploit (PSP Launcher) Homebrew on 1.50!

greg | June 15, 2005

Update: Many people seem disappointed that it’s a swap hack. Personally I don’t have any problem with it as it works great. We at PSP Hacks give our thanks to the PSP-Dev team for discovering and providing this exploit. For those who are having difficulty getting it to work, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download any homebrew app/game
  2. Load up the MSwap Tool
  3. Select the EBOOT.PBP you wish to use
  4. Select an Output directory
  5. Click “Generate files”
  6. You’re now left with two directories - MS1 and MS2
  7. Copy the EBOOT.PBP from the MS1 directory to your first memory stick (MS) - X:\PSP\GAME\<SOME DIR>
  8. Remove the first MS and insert the second
  9. Copy the EBOOT.PBP from the MS2 directory into X:\PSP\GAME\<SAME DIR AS SPECIFIED ABOVE>”
  10. Remove MS2 and insert MS1
  11. Go to the Game menu on your PSP and select Memory Stick
  12. Select the PSP-Dev Launcher
  13. The moment PSP logo screen comes on, swap memory sticks
  14. Vola! You’re playing homebrew on your 1.50 PSP!

Well folks, as promised, get it here.

Its been confirmed working. It involves a swapping technique, so you require two memory sticks to utilize this exploit. Please read the included tutorial on how to use the exploit properly.

Download PSP 1.50 Exploit.

To get this working, you gotta generate the pbp file first, then get 2 memory sticks, put ms1 in the first memory stick and ms2 in the second memory stick, and make a folder for PSP-DEV in I:/PSP/Game on both sticks, then you take the first memory stick, and select the psp launcher on the first stick, and quickly swap to memory stick 2, it should work

Nope, it just freezes at the psp loading screen and boots of my psp. DO NOT TRY THIS, it could very easily fry your psp

2005-06-15 07:57:34

Let me rephrase my above statment. Following their instructions, you get corrupt data error. Following Kamishiro’s instructions, the screen freezes at the white PSP loading screen and powers off in 10-15 seconds.

On 1.52 you get 80020148 is that what the rest of you get.

You should not get any error at all, this is a swap trick and the way they make you do it it freezes your psp. Unstable, inconvinent and unsafe.

It works fine for me. You will not damage your PSP. And, it was confirmed a few days ago this was to only work on 1.50 - not 1.51+.

Comment by Emil
2005-06-15 08:03:31

Do with 1.50 it freezes your psp. With 1.52 you get an error message then Sony relly did patch the psp. Also people with routers. Go to network update and you’ll see the 1.52 has ben released in the US but on the offical psp website it’s still 1.51. i know it was a good thing a bought that 1.00 psp on monday.

nah I dont like this. this is not what I was expecting. Ill go buy a 1.0 on ebay. I mean, thanks for the effort guys, but this is not what I was waiting for. I dont want to be a memory stick swap artist every time i need to play a game. Ill spend some extra bucks on ebay for the 1.0 before they disappear

Works fine for me. I got version 1.5. Ok the swapping aint the handiest thing on earth but they managed to proof that 1.5 is crackable. For now I enjoy homebrew by swapping.

Comment by Emil
2005-06-15 08:10:57

Plus if you have 2 psp you can use one for new games with the firmware update feture and the other one for homebrews. Also if this is the best exploit for 1.50 how are we ever going to crack 1.52

Yah, same thoughts here. even if i do get it to work i would have to be EXTREMELY fast to swap them. i really doubt people are going to go for this, converting the .pbp files every time is a hassle, most people only have 1 memory card, for the price of a new memory card you could trade in your old psp and use that money to get a 1.0, and finally as stated above i really dont want to be a “memory stick sawp artist”

There isn’t an actual loader yet, so you can’t play .iso files or disc images. If you had a blank umd you could write the file onto it. Also i would imagin since sony said they weren’t going to make umd, it wouldn’t have any protection on it.

Worked fine the first time with the Genesis emu, but got the white screen lock-up with SNES…. And even if it did work, what a pain in the ass…. I’m hardly going to fiddle around swapping memory cards around on the bus, am I… Not to mention that it well could be hazardous to either your PSP’s health, or your expensive card.. I’d congratulate the team for their efforts anyway, except that if they’d TOLD us this was some kind of pain in the ass swap trick, we wouldn’t have all been as excited as most of us were. Major let down.. Major.

What part of this is “BS”? I’m sooo sorry but it was your choice to stay up that long. The Dev-Team said they have hacked 1.50 so it plays homebrews. More than half of you guys cry about it and yell BS. If I were them I would have said fuck you all and kept it to myself. Well it’s out. And IT DOES WORK. Just because it doesn’t work how you wanted it to doesn’t mean you have to wine about it. You treat the dev-team like there some type of Sony support. Please stop your bitching, if you don’t appreciate what they have done. You may never see anything improved. If you don’t like how it’s currently setup then just wait. Please do not bash people because they are talented in a level which you are obviously not.

For those who say the videos were fake. THINK about how the sequence in the 2nd video went. You see the emu running FIRST then they go and show you the firmware version. They never showed the swap because it was already running.

As to those who think this is inconvenient, I mean people swap on the PS2 all the time and they hardly moan about it.
